heh.. it has it's purposes. 8-way dual core system is one of those purposes. no matter how high i overclock this wimpy 144, it could never ever ever touch that kind of power :toast:

got it in right now, 30c idle 35c load at stock voltage and mhz. the as5 needs to break in a bit, and i'm not used to having a heatspreader :p:

i want to, but i won't, because of how poorly the tubing in my loop is set up, and i don't feel like stripping it down and setting up again to make it all better. i'd like to not have a repeat of what happened to my newark :p:

There is speculation that opterons have better silicon... also it looks like they have a 1mb cache.

"939-pin Opterons are tested to a higher standard than Athlon 64, and do go through additional testing."

it would be logical to deduce that higher standard = better silicon.

the reason thes efirst lowend model 939 opterons are clocking so good is there are no speed binning processes going on at AMD on these they just run off abatch and label the cpu's.
This is why some of the first batches all released chips is so good.
rem the 3000-3800+ venices that pc ice and a few used no chips after those came cloe really. becasue as soon as the launch of the chips happen they bin the chips to hell.
Opterons use a more error free testing process doesnt mean they clock betetr at all.
Ive used sooo many opterons and none touch a real fx in terms of quality. :)

So in theory you are saying that these first batch of opty's will be the best 939 1xx series available.

All I know is I was one of the first to order from monarch and I got stuck at 2.5 ghz with my venice.....

Yeah, it always seems like the first batches of CPUs OC best. Remember winnies? Everyone was doing 2.7+ at first then they just sucked.

if that is the case haven't the 939 opty's been around since late summer or something liek that? I think I read that somewhere but I forgot where.
