Don, can you make sure to include a BF2 benchmark in this as well. That is one of the most popular games now.Quote:

Would be nice to prove this either way. I may try out these new drivers if i get a chance.Quote:

Shall i run all tests at 1024x768 and 1600x1200? AA and AF on both.
I'll bench;
Far Cry
Doom 3
CS:S
Fear SP Demo
Unreal Tournament 2004 (since it likes CPU, should like this)
3dmark01, 03, 05 (default only)
Any others? Just installing all these games that i haven't used for ages, then i'll get to work.
that is very nice you have cs s ut 2004 and doom III and you dont like online shootter xD
try that resolutions perhaps 1600x1200 without AA or AF because you only have 1 7800gt
Fear SP Demo would be very interesting.
well CS:S came with hl2, doom3 is an SP game and ut...well i cannot deny, but i fell in love with the original, and this was also good.
Latest benchemall crashed on me, getting an older version.
i agree with the 1600x1200 full AA & AF. If possible how about the BF2 Demo. I feel there is enough people that play it to give it a shot.
ok but ill hav to download it, and im on 512k. So wait until tomorrow for that.
I am guessing 90% of that performance gain is because the shadows are not being rendered...
I have not tried but supposedly this shadow bug is prevalent in most if not all games...
Wait, so shadows don't work with the 81.26s? WTF is that? LOL.
Otherwise the performance looks GREAT!! AQ3 performance is way up as well.
Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, a very simplistic way to look at this update is that one processor takes care of the game and another processor takes care of the driver. I bet the gains are even more noticable in SLI.
Couldn't the performance boost come from new driver enhancements instead of dual core? Why didn't they bench single core vs dual core with the same driver?
So what am i looking at? The same FPS except in D3, which looks like a freak score.
Well, I've uninstalled, DriverCleaner'ed, and reinstalled the new drivers 3 times and have consistently NOT been able to reproduce that article's performance boost. I did get a 4fps boost in Doom3, to 86.9 from 82.8 (amounting to about a 5% boost) but nothing dramatical like the 20%-ish stuff they got. Even so, not too shabby, right? ;)
Just so you know, I was also not benching at the 1024/1280 resolution they tested at: I run at 1920x1200 with a 7800GT.
Anybody else test them yet?
Well it would be nice if you told us WHAT PROCESSOR you are using... uhh...Quote:

At that high of a resolution you may be gpu limited...Quote:

What's this shadowbug I've heard about? Shadows are corrupt or don't display or something?
Using the CPU to calculate shadows. And here I thought UltraShadow was some advanced tech. Well that's certainly one way of outperforming ATI in some games.
Does it look the same though?
1 7800GT should be fine with 1600x1200 res and AA and AF :toast:Quote:

Try 12x10 and 16x12 (or their widescreen equivalents)
also it seemed that AA and AF made the gains even larger...
some image quality screens would be excellent as well
