Erm I dun think your too well versed in the latest news Loe. The pipes supposedly there working with will provide a 33% increase hopefully in use-full-ness... They also have a ton of stock of there other few new cards because there waiting for there flagship. I'm also curious on the r580 but wierder things have happened and maybe 32 is easier...? 32 = 16 x 2? Who knows, pipes are a strange thing... Its also been said there trying not to do any bit of a paper launch. ATI's also clocked so high becuase of the new architecture and the move to (90nm is it?)....

I keep seeing it around again and again... That it may have 16 pipes but they may be "stronger" and stuff about alu's and stuff.... Over my head, I'm just the messenger boy, dont shoot me, messengers are hard to come by.

true, but several news sites already confirmed that the r580 is ready, too. but, for sure, this is good news for ati. i didn't expected that the r520 match the performance of a 7800gtx - the fact it only got 16 pipes was not promising.

Looks more every day like ati's realized that there r520 chip is a failure and so there flaming on the r580 to maybe get it out before christmas.

That sounds promising. :)

Nvidia's Ultra will no doubt be faster, but thats what r580 will be for.

And hopefully ultra/g80 or whatever is ready before christmas as well as r580 for a nice duke em out of the "new" "newer" generation cards.

Well r580's supposedly taped out, and the next nvidia card is supposedly waiting for r520.

if the r520 wasnt a better performer then the gtx it would have been a pretty big waste eh?

oh btw r580 had a completly different team of engineers so it may be more then just a refresh....

And I know the week isnt over ;) Nothing against speculating or discussing new rumours, hearsay etc etc..as long we dont have 5 threads going at once on ATI ... at the very least its better now.

I find THG's optimism uplifting...but with any piece of news that comes from there, I'd take it with a carton of salt.
