impressive.

On a side note, nothing we do here at xtreme makes much sense, there really isnt any sensible reason for most of our overclocking adventures, so all the same, pushing hardware is pushing hardware, whether the challenge is getting it to boot, or to run superpi, the whole XS pointe is just to take our computers to thier edge, so say what you will, im impressed by all aspects of overclocking, whether its getting a d2ol rig to run all day at good clocks, or breaking the WR in suicide shots.

Ok...

Person A has an FX57 at 4ghz screenie and it runs Pi 1M at 3.6ghz with low ram which he pulled off in a few hours. Person B has spent weeks benching his FX57 that wont SS over 3.8ghz but can run 8M stable at 3.75ghz with high ram speed. Person A is the obvious record holder because he has a totaly XTREME 4ghz shot, and person B spent weeks benching but doesn't get anything because his SS is lower, right? :stick:

Any chip that can bench near 3.7ghz with 280mhz mem is a very good chip. I'm not thread crapping, I'm just saying DO SOMETHING with it so he can get a REAL WR in a benchie and not a SS.

SS are nice but benchies are much better. If it's ss stable at high mhz. maybe the cascade is loosin temps.? Do you get drastic swings or anything? I go for max SS but more fun is pullin off a nice super pi or even more so 3d. Since I think it would only be the third one over 4 it would be cool. But can ya show some benches maxed also even if they aren't records they are always nice to compare. :)

As much as i don't want to offend anyone, i have to agree with afireinside's point about "real results". It is fun to compare FX57's to see who can go highest with his chip, but it is not a task completed. In other words 39xxMHz on anything else than a Pentium 4 is absolutely amazing, but it is only a potential WR to me.

Personally, i think TAM's 4178MHz Pi-WR is much more the fastest Pentium M (or quite likely the fastest on the planet) around than the 4300MHz+ screenies :)

I've never disagreed with stability benching, but the title of his thread...is 4G's

I rarely speak out about this, but I hate when people thread crap about something someone took the time to post and for us to admire.

I'm a bit tired of these SS vs. Bench remarks (by anybody, so dont feel i'm picking on you specifically)... its really a moot point.

Person A wins the SS competition.. impressive, but not everything.

Person B will most likely hold all the S-Pi records and such which as we all already know are the rest of the battle.

Whichever each person feels is the most impressive is up to them, just like some people like seeing 5,000+HP alcahol fueled cars go down a stip in under 4 seconds and others like to watch Le Mans or Baja.
