I know it won't be impressive. I'm looking at going roughly the same route as you are. I was thinking abotu 2x1gb sticks of Crucial Ballistix, but that stuff has crap timings compared to this. I'm just asking for a sandra shot to get an idea of what I would be getting for bandwidth if I went this way.

Here is mine 2x1gb ballistix tracer 257*11 3-3-3-6 2.6v. i can run it up to 277 3-3-3-8 2.6v if i drop multiplier to 10. all super pi 32m stable

Yea 2 x 1GB will still uses 1T, thats why the decent performance in the above screenshot.

5-2-2-2 2T at 250mhz, or 8-3-3-3 1T at 270mhz??

Probably be about the same, but the latter would definitely need less voltage and would likely last longer.

It would be nice to see if any 4x512 2T 255*11 2-2-2-5 could compete with the 2x1024 1T 255*11 3-3-3-8. I think the 1T even with the much looser timings still comes out ahead on all tests.

Yes, less voltage but if properly cooled shouldn't affect lifespan at all.

I have been running 4gigs for a while now on 775, pretty sweet setup although i run ram drives etc. OCZ have a nice 250fsb kit coming thats 2.5-3-3- at 2.8V and will do 280+ at 3-4-4 if you wish all 1T so this may be the ultimate gaming setup.

2T drops like 3-4FPS at high res over 1T...its not worth worrying about unless you are a sandra junkie ;)

Nice results Dnottis. Seems that 2 gigs the way to go (for now). I know Dumo had 2gig 260 2-2-2-5 2t with GSKILL GH (I think) and Mushkin Redline. Maybe with just redline, you could get 265 or higher 2-2-2-5. May look into that.

With the release of bf2 this 2gig thing is a very hot topic right now.

Is any1 else here running 2Gb with X2s?

I'm doing a Dumo at the moment with 1GB Redline & 1GB GH combo at 250MHz x10 2-2-2-5 2T, and i have to agree with dnottis in regards to ingame performance. The X2 boost the general responsiveness in windows, but adding an extra gig of memory simply takes everything up a notch and not just on the gaming front. Benching aint pretty at 2T, but as dnottis said, the figures don't do justice to the overall experience.

I can live with lower benches as long as overall performance is this good. I'm still happy with all the real world app benches - just sandra and everest that really show a huge performance hit.

I'm very interested in this comment, i have an X2 and was looking at 2GB of RAM for things other than games, even though i play BF2 which i know will use it.
I've also just installed photoshop which i know loves RAM.

Suhweeet!! I'm going with 2GB of RAM in my new setup, as well. It's 2 x 1024MB of Patriot PC3200 at 2-3-2-5. Hey, it's PC3200, but, it's 2GB of RAM!

yeah i cant wait to get enough money to start a new build. i know ill be getting at least 2 gigs of ram when i do. BF2 seems to be a real memory whore :slapass:

What's with all the screen shots? There's no difference going from 256mb to 2gb. Also, why are all the pics in 1280x1024? Do you have an LCD or something?

yeah maybe the pic quality is due much to the new features in 7800.... but it does actually look better.. and PLAYS better...

256MB... does BF2 even allows u to install ?? :P

edit : the pics r in 1280x1024... becoz even for a CRT.. tat is the best resolution to play games at .... with AA and AF tune all up..... he most likely using LCD.. like us all.. hehehehe

very nice pics... feel like playing HL2 all over again.... :D
