I was told by OCZ steve, if you know who that is, that they were the micron chips. Are they both micron chips but just slightly different? I'd rather have a garanteed speed on my ram ;).

i don't think any 1gb micron based sticks use 5b G, it's not high enough density.Quote:

I need to OC and so far only the Micron chips seem to OC well @ 1T. Well, I mean, a few others are okay too, but they're not getting higher fsb @1T so easily.
It's all a risk, but I've just placed an order at the egg, so wait and see. I don't have the rig to test it's OC though. Sucks.
SO you got the 3200 stuff? I want someone to get the 4000 stuff lol.
Well hell, sure why not, I'll go out and get it and test it for you.... Just kidding. I think there's quite a bit of talk already about the PC4000 Ballistix.
I think OC'ers are staying w/1G for the high clocks. I OC too, but I need 2G's for BF2. So I believe more and more people will be looking for high OC's and 2x1G. That's where I'm at and I'm at a lost cause little info is available regarding these OCs. At least, I didn't find much.
I got the pc3200 value stuff.
Well I just wanna know if they scale down well and if the 2t at rated timings can be tweaked to 1T with some altered settings. I dont have a lot of AMD64 memory timing experience lol. I mainly posted in here to tag it for the info :).
This is the only stuff I know of that can run up and over 250Mhz @1T. People are posting 4x512mb at 250 2-2-2-5 @ 2T, but I wanted 1T and 2x1G. I can only see in the near future, people migrating to 2x1G cause of the games. I guess we're the few pioneers.
Over at dfi-street, they have a rep who's running it fine @ 250 3-3-3-10 (I assume at 1T). He's saying no problems yet.
Lol, I figure I'll just return it if its not working out ;).
Well, I wish I could just return it too, but I can't test them yet cause I don't have the mobo to do it. I would just sell mine to the non-OCers. It's cheap and they'll snatch it up for that reason. It might be harder to sell $300 pc4000 Ballistix if it doesn't scale well, but people are posting good results.
Now, Abit AN8 or DFI board....
Def DFI. Now scale, do you mean above 250 or lowering the timings and clocks?
Hmmm...DFI huh? I hear the Abit will give 3.55Vdimm too, so it may potentially be just as good, less tweaking features, I'd imagine.
See, there's the thing. I cannot gather enough info about it. If you look around at these record settings in the stickies you never see 2x1G. I've seen people post 250 2-2-2-5 but @ 2T. Now is that better bandwidth than 250 3-3-3-10 @ 1T?
Although the former has tight timings, it's at 2T, and the latter at 1T, so I don't really know the comparison.
Also, I think it'd be easier to push the micron over 250 @ 1T since people are claiming posting over 300Mhz @ 1T. One thing is for sure, tight timings is a compromise, whether you give up the 1T or the tight timings.
The 2t blows hard; Ive been looking into 2T vs 1T reviews.
Buy them direct from crucial, should cost less and you can probably request the old stuff (if there's a difference).Quote:

Crucial is listing it at $118. Newegg is at $105. How do you go about asking for the old stuff?Quote:

For anybody else with the 1GB Ballistix sticks, y'all got black PCBs too, right?
No, no, no, no...I'm not buying Ballistix. This thread isn't about the ballistix, rather the value ram. Read first post again. I'm taking a chance with $105 pc3200 1G sticks rather than $187 Ballistix pc4000.
If I get performance like what's posted here, the gamble would've paid off? Eh?
I'm into value (cheap) stuff. Like my old buffalo CH5 that did 240fsb @ 2-2-2-7.
I was under the impression that you wanted Ballistix because of your post regarding the pic of my Ballistix:
Anyway, definitely go through newegg for stuff that ozzimark has.Quote:
Ahhh....I want some but newegg now lists them under this part number now, as opposed to what you have above.

Doh! I'm confused. I thought that you bought the stuff that Ozzimark had. My bad. :confused:Quote:

Then i tried to clock with 180 MHZ - then the computer freezes instead of going to the desktop.
Someone has an idea?
Greetings from France.
hate to ask, but what does this have to do with 5b D overclocking? :stick:
that aside.. run memtest on each stick by itself, at stock speeds/timings. it's possible that one is defective

anyone tried 512's of this stuff? Kingston valueram 512mb PC3200 @ costco is using -5B D's.
Back on topic....
Has anyone tried 2x sticks of this Micron 5B D Crucial value stuff? I'm debating ordering a couple from Newegg now, but I'm worried that when paired up with non-binned (or rather not passing the binning process) chips, the 2x configuration might go from a 250 Mhz clock to a 225. That wouldn't be worth the savings in my book.
I Just read everything about the new model. Very interesting!!! I mean.. is it certain that they didn't change anything else other than the package?
What if it's a smaller process.. or would they run cooler then.. People seem to say they run pretty hot.
After seeing all the results so far, would you guys say they got better or worse?
Anyways, if all seems well i might just get 4 sticks of the value ram instead of 2 ballistix (2 for my main rig, and 2 for my server) That way i'll get to pick the best ones for my main rig and i'll be somewhat protected from a major dissapointment if one stick OC's poorly. Surely i'll be able to get 2 decent sticks out of four of them right?
:toast:
Also i got a picture from another thread.. Check out that spaghetti! (what's it for? lol)
