hi.
did i get it ?
when i set the priority to "IDLE", i could do other things like D2OL isnt installed?
am i right? :)
Installed Watch Dog on 2 rigs now (others will follow).
Got a question though :
What is best setting in the .ini file regarding the Processes? Idle, Normal?
Here's how the .ini file looks on my Xeon rig right now :
##---------------PRIORITIES---------------##
# NORMAL,IDLE,BELOWNORMAL,ABOVENORMAL,HIGH
##----------------------------------------##
[General]
INTERVAL=10
[PROCESSES]
DOCKWIN=IDLE
GridWin=IDLE
D2OL=IDLE
[SERVICES]
CHECK=TRUE
ATTEMPTS=3
Oh ya I forgot to add if you change the ini file you have to restart the service for it to take affect... Ops.. Have fun everyone one I'm off to catch a plane now I'll be back in a week. Hopefully everyone gets it working that was having trouble.
It comes pre-configured for the optimal settings for making your computer run the best so you can do other things on it. The original installer had the "dead" service option disabled as not everyone runs it as a service but latter in the thread is one that has that enabled by default.
The beauty of it is you can configure it however you like though depending on what you want.
NapalmV5, since D2OL already runs at normal you could remove that line from the ini file if you wanted to.

If I'm reading right I can set the priorities to HIGH for best D20l performance?
I dont plan on doing anything else on that rig desides running D20L. My others I have them on IDLE.
Am I correct in doing that?
Yes you can...Quote:

If you set the Priority to High, you'll have a hard time even getting your mouse pointer to move. Even though your system is just a dedicated cruncher, it will still run at peak level with the Priority set to Low. After all, it's just sitting there idle - doing nothing but crunching - so it'll be running at 100% CPU utilization anyway.Quote:

What's wrong with using .NET?
nothing, IMO. I have it, no problems.
but a couple of my friends don't have it, don't wanna install it. tried to convince them otherwise, but no go.
Don't tell them. They'll never know it's there. ;)
hehe. believe me I've thought about it more than once. I might even do it, except that I'm very rarely around thier computers for any reasonable length of time when they aren't there. and they know enough to know what I was doing if I tried to install infront of them. ;) fortunately, helheim said he's gonna work on a non.NET version after he gets back.
