Nice job Kunaak!
That's an insane slab of Intel you got there. 4.8GHz on water cooling is kinda scary!
Awesome Kunaak!!!! Great job bro!!!!
I dont see where your coming from ?Quote:

I can answer that. Prescott's have longer pipeline's which allow higher overclocks, but the catch is that they are slower clock per clock. Ever wondered why Dothans, Athlon's and Athlon64's perform so well at low clocks, thank the short pipeline.Quote:

Were did you get the cpu if I may ask or did you get it from a Dell or something?
2 stage. nope, came all the way from las vegas. long trip.Quote:
What kind of cascade? Does someone have one off in Alaska or did you buy one?
No idea, the Abit AS8, doesn't read below zero temps, and I don't have a temp meter at the moment, like I said, just kinda winging it at the moment.Quote:
what temps did you get under load?
it sure is. hell of a machine too.Quote:
is that a chilly1 cascade?
honestly, I don't know yet. I need a lower multiplier CPU so I can find out what the real limits of this motherboard are, cause with high multipliers, I can definatly say its a great board, but needs alot of mods to get good.Quote:
Any plans of changing the board?
at stock, this board is one hell of a piece of junk, worst droop I ever saw on any board, ever.
luckily, most of the mods for this board are extremely easy. ;)
lots of questions, give me a second here.Quote:

no it's not retail, it's OEM, came with nothing, just a plain white box.
I don't know what it does on default Vcore, but I can say, the very first time this CPU booted up, I said "what the hell" and took it from 20x133, to 20x200 at 4 ghz, default vcore, and installed windows, on air, no problems.
I barely mess with default Vcore so far.
yes it came from newegg, in the refurbs.
performance without HT is lacking in some benchmarks, like PCMark2004, Cinebench and a few others, so it's kinda disappointing in those, but overall, I can barely tell the difference between this CPU, and another with hyperthreading, so honestly I really don't miss it.
Update from today.
just spent the last 6 hours messing with a broken 6800.
it has a missing cap, and doesn't overclock for a damn without the cap.
I got this card in a trade, so I am rather pissed a the moment.
the card works, but does not mod to 16 pipelines without checkerboard effect, and it doesn't overclock at all, 340 on the core, and 800 on mem is all it does... extremely disappointed.
I still have a AIW 9700 pro here, but that card really isn't any fun to play with. but this broken 6800 is definatly on its way back...
so I dont have much to show for 3d other then a CPU bench I did of 3dmark2003 in which I got a 1217 at 5.1 ghz with the 5:4 divider, on the 9700 pro...
so not much new to show...
really bummed about this DOA 6800.
I really need to get a decent videocard.... that works.
I can do 20x250 and get some really great car scores.
so I am definatly impressed with this CPU, but the videocards are another story all together.... :(
my only 5.5 ghz shot.

Freakin nice dude. Congrats on that achievement
very nice indeed
i love seeing budget chips doing well :D
Thats one hell of a chip and oc you got there
Absolutely outstanding. Bang up job. Keep up the good work!

haha... were both running the same cpu... and :banana::banana::banana:ty videocards (PCX5750)
sorry to hear about the graphics card being DOA...
i realized that it was my chipset that is holding my cpu back... no matter what i do i just cant break 220FSB because of the 925X chipset (just like my 2.8E couldn't break 265FSB because of the OC lock)... and i dont think mods can get me past it... tommorow is payday and i'll have enough to pick up a 925XE and hopefully get my chip around 4.8ghz on water aswell :D
got any pics of that chilly1 cascade? i bet she's perdy!
nice scores bro... very nice
wow, really nice Kunnak. Maybe get chilly to upgrade u to a triple stage, possible 5.6 benchable if u had triple?
Congrats on the accomplishment. :toast:
man that as8 is one heck of an overclocker!
can it go any further like 6 ghz :) lol?
Kickass OC
Definitely a good batch of silicon, congratulations Kunaak !
I really don't know.Quote:

plus, honestly think my 550 watt antec, just isn't up to the job.
a new PSU with more amps on the 12 volt line would help.
hmm, I should have used one of my cheap PCI videocards, now that I think of it... could have saved alot of power, if I used a junker card, when focusing on the Super Pi stuff... damn it, thought of that 2 days after I am done
I hear Nanotherm PCM is better for sub zero temps... I have ceramique.
maybe try and find that stuff...
I got a few ideas on how to push that cpu alittle further.
but the main thing is, I need to get a temp meter here, before I mess with it again. kinda fun to just go blind at it, but after 2 days, you just wish you could see, the best possible temps for the job.
I think this CPU can do more, but honestly I need to prepare alittle more before trying it again.
at the moment, I am back on water, giving the cascade a rest.
preparing for the next night.
me and fugger also talked about him using my CPU, under his cascade.
I am sure with his -120C 3 stage, he can do alot more then I can with it ;)
impressive! :slobber:
yeah... id like to see one of these cpus in fuggers hands...
he could have mine lol... my board wont let me get very much outta mine...
im definetly impressed with these cpu's... the lack of hyperthreading sucks for some benchmarks... other ones i dont notice it at all...
i really believe the cpu has more once you get it to a happy temperature, some good paste in there since your subzero, some tuning of the board would make it very happy...
but for the price of these cpus... im having fun like the 1700+ T-bred B's
