ABIT Fatal1ty AA8XE volt mod request

Would it be possible to get voltage readings at each of the pins on the chip so that I can try to work out which pin might be the mod point. I've also posted this in another thread, and if I can get the voltage readings from 2 different boards using the same chip I should be able to compare the voltages and find the right point.

Thanks :). I think I know which pin is the mod point on the chip, but I can be more certain if I can get 2 sets of readings.

I'm 99% certain that I know which pin is the mod point. On the Vdimm regulator, can you check the resistance between the pin I have marked and a Vdimm read point (e.g. pin 7 on the dimm slot). Can you also get the resistance between the pin and ground.

Sorry but I'm not an expert of voltage readings etc..
I ask to my friend (he is a very expert) to reading voltages you require.
If I've understand, Vdimm regulator is winbond 83320s chip near DDR slot, you confirm?

Yes, the Vdimm regulator is the winbond 83302s chip by the Dimm slots.

since my friend is in holiday (as I told you) I would like to try to myself.
Please help me and confirm if my steps are corrects.
First of all I must set my tester in OHM reading mode right? What scale should I use?
My PC must be unplugged by A/C right?
After that, I point my 2 tester tips (red/black) one in 83320s pin you marked and one in pin 7 on the dimm slot right?
Also I point my 2 tester tips (red/black) one in 83320s pin you marked and one at ground (ex. chassis on my case) right?
Please confirm my steps and sorry for my poor electronic experience.

Yes, thats right :). Try setting the multimeter to a range of about 20k ohms. It shouldn't matter which way around you connect the multimeter leads either.

Tester setting: 200Kohm reading mode.

Resistance between the pin you have marked and pin 7 on the dimm slot: 50

Thanks for the readings. They are about what I expected. I think that this should work for the Vdimm mod: Conenct a 1Mohm (1 meg ohm) varaible resistor between pin 7 on the 83302s and ground.
I'm 99% sure that this is the correct mod, but be careful not to set the variable reistor below about 200k if you don't get any Vdimm voltage change. If this mod works, I will work out the other mod for the other 83302s chip near the northbridge.

Sorry, I got the wrong pin in post #39. I meant pin 10 on the winbond chip, and not pin 7. Pin 10 is the pin which reads 1.19v from your readings, and as shown in this picture.

Could you please measure from the yellow line I've pointed onto the rounded choke(coil) to which Winbond IC leg is shorted or have a small resistance?.......
