No I was speaking of the bit about how you need to tune the bios differently. I assume it was in your first post. (nevermind) ;)Quote:

thanks for the great effort bud :toast:
i did notice that it enables the RAM to operate with less voltages. (using 2x256MB BH-5's, VX's are still in RMA) but can you post other BH-5/UTT recommended settings & not only the 'drive strength' one, so that the RAM can do its best? :)
Thanks Tony
no need for mirror link

Say Tony, since you are in close contact with Oskar and cru check to see if they can include the overclocking of video cards from the bios such as the MSI and Gigabyte boards. This would be very cool and would void the need for software to do it in windows. From people overclocking from bios they say the clocks are more stable this way.

Flashed, works fine with my G.Skill no improvement in OC or in Sisoft memtest but IMO peeps with VX should like some of the additions.
hmmm maybe I should give it a try. I have a pair of VX and BH sitting here.
im on ocz pc4200el hynix now...so far they havent complained at 250 with 2.8v, but only dual channel in 2T ....should i use 6 or 8 for them with new bios....and would they run in 1T then?
bad news from my end. cant go past 250 (250 passes memtest #5, 25 loops, np) with 16x r/w queue bypass, no matter what i did. either lockup after/during POST requiring a clear cmos or unplug for a few minutes (which sometimes didnt work)
kept vdimm constant at 3.4.
with r/w queue bypass 8x, cant go past 253 without lockup as mentioned above.
tried some dram and data ds combos, to no avail (8-1, 6-1, etc.)
with 6-3, i got some scrambled characters on the screen after POST (and then locked up).
with 5-3 on 16x r/w queue bypass, finished POST, screen went blank, then it reset on its own back to factory defaults.
experienced a lockup once during a POST after clearing cmos for ~30 seconds, after loading optimised defaults.
flashed back to 310 (went back to final for now, was on beta prior).
with 310, np with bringin the memory past what it can do at 3.4v. errors in memtest, but no lockups, and able to load windoze, etc.
tony, any thoughts? (ill flash back to do more testing tomorrow night if u would like).
ram is KHX3200K21G (BH5, 2x512), winchester 3200+.
:)
same here :stick:
using 2 x CMX256A (Corsair BH-5), i know that my RAM can do the 285MHz 2-2-2-5 @ 3.9v, but with this BIOS the max i could do was 260MHz 2-2-2-5, totally unstable! (almost tried every voltage!) & this why i did ask about some recommended settings...
another thing i did notice, is the with this version of BIOS, my 24/7 (for 3 months now!) 101% stable CPU OC isn't any stable!! WTF?! :stick: so i went back to 2.17
let's hope that it will be better with the VX's
You guys have to remember you can't use the settings you were using before, make sure you play with the following.
TRC 8 works well
TRFC
Drive strength
Idle cycle
TRAS
I also niced CPU overclcoking may not be quite as good but lowering my multi actually got me a higher ram clock, so you may be seeing CPU issues not ram ones....
Keep playing with it and I will contact DFI with the results and see about another build.
Perfect timing as my BH-5 seems to be able to hit a new sweet spot for my CPU that just started to emerge. Hopefully the new bios doesn't hurt the OC on the CPU and put me back right where I started. Thanks.
what is better to use for read write queue bypass 8x or 16x? What is this exactly anyhow?
the higher the better for that number...
ok well here are my results thus far:
200-en-2-2-5-2-8-15-2-2-1-1-3120-1-en-incr-255-8-auto-7-5-16-dis-16-7-dis
this new 3.25 bios allowed my vx to increase the following settings compared to the 3.10 bios:
dram strength is now 8 vs 7
r/w is now 16x vs 8x
bypass max is now 7x vs 4x
on important option worth noting is my vx does not like anything higher than 3.4vdimm and i had to disable the 0.03+ option to make my ram happy again.
so the ram is @ 260 and cpu is at 2600 - unfortunatley that is as high as i can test because my dh7-cg newcastle runs out of steam at 2600mhz but i have a feeling the vx has a little more left in it...
here are my everest scores:
Well, this bios simply rocks. On 310 my TCCD wouldn't go over 295. On 217 it would but wasn't stable. Now on 325 it's like a wall has be lifted. 9x302 right now with tons tighter timings than before and it's rock stable. Can't wait to try my vx.
