Yeah, Malves attempted to fix a board HF ruined for me as well. too bad it was already too dead. i hope you get your board up and running and HF didnt completely fry it.
Well I am sending my board to Malves tommorrow. You know if Hell-Fire would just get back to me, I wouldn't be so pissed.

You made sure the backside of that little peice of PCB wasnt touching anything when you powered up, right?
I would try a PCI video card (may have fried AGP if you didnt make sure it was protected and I dont know if P4C800 supports AGP 2x (3.3v) cards).
The two blue items at the end of the PCI slots are for voltage measurement. Bottom for vagp, top for vdimm.
EDIT
VCORE and VDROOP are the two VR's near the I/O bracket. If you are using a prescott vcore may be adjusted too high.
No that PCB part was built up on some washers and stayed there for few days till it fell off. I tried a PCI vid card still no output, I really thnik the whole board may be fried. I really hope not though. I been thinking bout what board to get and was wondering if anyone made a P4 Socket 478 MB with PCI express or dual PCI-Express preferably?

I'll almost bet the washer touched something it shouldnt have when it came loose.. or when it fell off.
It didn't fall off until i was taking pics of it. It never touched, its covered in hot glue anyway. I never even connected it while it was off. Its something to do with video, im pretty sure..
one VR is vagp, other is vdimm.
You could remove the mods completly and try again, are you capable of doing such?
Yeah i was going to do it, but i figured id want it modded again anyway so i already sent it to Malves.
The situation is really strange for sure, and the information needs to be sorted out better in these cases.
First of all, if I would mod a card for someone, I would definitly turn all mods down as much as possible and then explicitly tell the owner how to operate the mods.
Still, the owner needs to be fully aware on how the mods work, and this includes how to operate a DMM and how to measure the voltages correctly.
When you mod things there are no soft limits. Either it work, or you destroy hardware, period.
One thing I always do when I mod motherboards is to start them with _no_ hardware at all. You're still able to measure voltages and you won't kill any other hardware than the mobo if something fails.
Got the board, bro. Cut all the wires for vdimm and vagp. Getting default readings on both. Looks like it is still alive.:)
Now it's time for some real artwork.;)
BTW, you only have vdroop mod. Those 2 trimmers close to the cpu area, are soldered in series.
so can you exactly tell what caused the board to go haywire?

I have no idea, bro. I didn't even wasted my time trying to figure that out. He sent the board for me to fix it. So, first thing I do is to get rid of the mess. Then check to see if the board still works. Then do the mods the way they should have been done.
You know. I like vmods the old fashioned way. I don't like any of this crap circuit boards that ppl came up with. You want a modded board? You better know how to handle it with a MM and a screw driver.;)
Yeah im the same way, theres no point in useing stripboard, switches, leds, standoffs and all this other crap, on a video card, a jumper to turn on and off is ok, but if you need an LED to tell you if the mod is off, and you cant jus look to see if the jumper is removed or not....go back to preschool :P I know everyone has their own style but some of the stuff is getting out of hand IMO. I might be a bit biased towards malves way since thats the way i learned and thats the way ive always done it, cleaner is better :D

After following this thread, i 've decided to have my 1st. volt mod done by cat or malves. it seems the best way for me to learn is by getting it done right yhe 1st. time. Would it be possible to have voltage measuring spots extended to a easy read point? That way i could get use to volt reading & have on hands experience with results.Seems like a basic user guide with mod would be useful.Also helping out as you both have shows this is a great community.
Yeah, boy am I glad that Malves was able to get this going. I bought a new MultiMeter yesterday. I really apprecaite Malves doing this, I been without a fast computer for so long, cant wait to play all the new games that I haven't been able to play. Plus I can't weait to see how she runs all modded, I'm guessing a stable 3.5-3.7 at 1:1 at maybe cas 2.2!!!
