Well had enough of 6600gt action for now. I'm going to give it's rival the x700pro a try while I wait for the dfi bridge to come. We'll see how the x700 pro will do on my gpu cooler ;)

Dang it, and I just took down your '03 and '05 6600GT scores;)
Randi:D
that's JUST awesome! Those 6600GT are CERTAINLY the best $200 cards available, probably even the best >$250 card!!

Well my captain, it looks like my 6600gt will have to go back in then! I need to figure out a way to get my gpu cooler to work on nvidia cards to match your chiller ;)Quote:

 That was a good one.Quote:

And the race for the championship begins.
Use neoprene sheeting and a hard plastic square for the back of the card to stop the compnents being damaged and some more neoprene on top of the block so that stops getting indentationd from the g clampQuote:

Be careful you do not chip the chip of course. Tends to be easier doing this when the board is not in a case and lyingflat.

Hehe niec guide. Looks like there is seriously tough competition even in the "low-end" segment :)
I still can't quite grasp how you can combine a 3,3ghz FX-55 with a 6600GT :D
DAMN! Just saw your score Mr. Ice!
Your card isn't modded Randi?! I guess you have pretty cold water though :) We other mortals resort to other means of cooling.
Just saw that a Vapo LS is "only" 5000DKK about $800 in DK, when I get back to work I'll to topple you with that. Either way, beating 5K in 05 without a Vmod is nothing short of amazing. Not to mention that you're running almost 700 on the core :o
I've got the plastic for the backplate and the neoprene just I don't think that
would work with my gpu cooler. It's a -55C modded r507 prommy.... damn
though if I could get the 6600gt on it....

What gets lost in the shuffle here tho is the CPU I'm using and the CPU Mhz I'm running compared to my teamate: a 2600Mhz Winnie on stock air vs. a vapo LS FX-55 at 3200Mhz +. I only have 33 Mhz more core on my friend's last runs, tho the memory on this card runs higher and very well.
With the Winnie phase changed someday soon, volt mods to the 6600GT I think some neato numbers could be produced.
I have been away from this kind of fun for a very long time and its just that guys, fun ! The kind of fun that the average Joe could have without spending big $ on super cooling or expensive CPU's and videocards. I am, if nothing else, trying to illustrate to the average guys here that you too can do what we're doing and have a good time and put up some good numbers without big $ invested.
Andy knows where I'm coming from this perspective.:)
Randi:D
Agree totally, the fun is having a lot of other people competing, sharing knowledge and being respected by your peers. Being #1 is fun but it never lasts, if it did then what's the point, it would be stagnant?
Nothing beats getting a new card, it behaving terribly and you slowly but surely bending it to your will. Man against machine and all that.
That's probably why everytime I think about going colder than air / chilled water I end up spending money on a new video card. I bought FX 5500 ( twice) , MX4000 and FX 5950 recently just because I had not got them and wondered what they would do. Plus 2 GT 6600's. I never have enough money left over to buy phase or skill to make my own.
But I love the initial feeling of pulling that brand new card out of the box and seeing what the first run will be. Higher than I thought, lower or about the same? Then how far to get to the top runners .....
You can tell I have had a bottle of wine and am about to head off to the shed, I'm getting quite effusive.
Juliette/ Dave,
I like a woman/man with confidence ( in relation to toppling randi ) ..go get him :) , put XS where it belongs ( scrabble score 11 )

Everyone note:
THIS is the guy who turns thin air into 3DMarks... my original mentor with Abit KX7-333R and T'bred A, lol
thx again, Randi!

Lol Andy, its MAN, I wish I hadn't gone along with the name change :(
Randi, what "limited production" is it? You're not ebaying it are you? I'd like to see such a card in my setup, yours does 100mhz more on the core than mine!
I agree, mid-end/low-end cards are more fun to bench, as a) you're less scared with all the modifications (I'm NOT burning down a €600 card) b) there are a whole lot more people of your own category to compete with, no-one with a €5000 cascade to slap on and beat you by a mile.
My 6800Gt surprised me nicely, 5546 with no tweaks and old KT600 win installation, running on a NF2 board.
The 6600GT was a BAD experience at first, I had little hope in this card. Its stable OC out of the box was 570/1140. Pretty darn bad in my opinion. I managed to get it to the 603/1237, but anything else will need a vmod. I want to beat 4600, and personally I wouldn't mind all that much about burning it to the ground in the process. This card is my personal enemy which will do as I say! :D
Yeah it's late, coming back from a birthday party with friends I haven't seen all year, so I'm in a similair state to you Andy, just not as wasted :)
I'm going to keep that under wraps for a bit until my review breaks online. There are only 5000 made, clocked 550/1100 stock compared to 500/1000 for the reference design. I'll be honest, I have not looked at the volt mods yet, nor pulled out my multimeter to check its stock voltages, but I suspect from it's clockability that they are possibly higher than reference also.Quote:

OPP made this all possible with his generosity in procuring the DFI SLI-D thru DFI for a birthday gift, and Eric...thanks my man:) Otherwise, I'd still be flogging my AGP system.
As far as Ebaying them, not anytime soon, I'm really loving this card and soon both in SLI. I've owned cards by this manufacturer before and they are known for having top notch components and the best overclockability of their genre. Stay tuned for the review:D
Randi:D
I cant wait to see what benchies you can pull with those insane clocks :slobber: are they of the highest yield since those cores clock higher than others?
GeForce my friend:)
Nice to see you again:)
Yep, these cards have better cores than most, maybe cherry picked, tho not a claim of the manufacturer. I ran this card on its stock cooler at 620Mhz with only an application of AS5.
Randi:D
I want to know what cards those are! :e
I have a Gainward "Golden Sample" (My ass), which clocks at 540/1140, but the oc isnt spectacular. Can you just say whether its from a retail producer or a "inside" company? I know XFX has a "limited edition", and so does asus, but the performance has always been luck of draw. Hope this isn't the case with these cards :toast:
Retail producer;)
ok nice. I was hoping Buily By Nvidia though :D
I'm going to guess Galaxy as the brand, or something even more unusual like Aopen ????

Andy
what lod are you top guys running?
