Oh yeah, I forgot about all the hardcore OC mobo's over the years in my optiplex's and Dimension PC's at work. They must have been sitting right next to the Yeti's.

OEM's Like Dell have custom made mobo's for their PC's. Like Compaq for E.G. who use Asus NF2 mobos that are diff from all the others. The had the A7N8X-LA in theirs with a diff make of bios and it was ultra stripped down.

Diff markets diff mobo's, it's far from an apples to apples comparison. So go crap on another thread.

P.S I know that Dell have a half assed gamer system now, but thats not the same as what DFI have here with a mobo thats geared to the hardcore OC'er.

Ok sounds sweet :) I like HPM though, their customer care is above oc-wear (where i got my G.SKill).

And once these boards hit the shelves it won't be any big deal getting them really.

if those pci-expr. lanes can be variably assigned to the peg-slots there will possibly be a hack for the ultra to allow 8x+8x :hehe:

or maybe its possible to simply flash the ultra-d with the sli-d bios

No, SLI DR has the extra SATA ports from the Silicon image controller.

what?!? u need to read the anandtech article again, it enables 8x + 8x if u pencil it. The only difference between sli and ultra chipsets is that gap.....

It's the unofficial reason for the last minute "hardware change". Bottom line is the "retail" boards should be working real nice next week.

Found this on DFI-Street, for people wondering what the issue they found could've been. As the guy says though it's the "unofficial reason". So I'm not sure how reliable this information is.

i know its retarded to speculate what the "hardware change" is, but i strongly, strongly believe it has to do with the SLI-mod...eg. Nvidia complained and dfi is doing something so the boards cannot be modded to SLI anymore.

Its pure speculation on my side..but i really think it could be the case.

the only way that would be possible would be if they changed the pcb though.
