I'd really appreciate if u'd try that. Mounting the xp120 with heatpipes towards the RAM and then measuring the max height. By max hight I mean height OVER the plastic socket, which is pink or yellow in this case.
And I will measure what height my 45mm RAMs need over the socket when placed into sockets.

EDIT: My RAMs need at least 42-43 mm of space over the sockets to fit.

Good news everyone, you have a package....I mean, there's no problem with your modules in slot 3, but you cannot fit any mem in slot 4 and the margin to the gfx-card is drastically redused.

Didnt he say you cannot use slot 4 *only* when the pipes face the memory ?
If you turn the HSF the other way round you can fit ALL modules.
Is there a reason you WANT to put the HSF that way so the pipes face the memory ? If not...then just turn it around and have more clearance towards the card AND can fit all modules.
Please clear that issue up....in his first pictures with the pipes the other way it looks like there is no problem at all with the Xp-120 !

mY mems are to high for the xp120 to face the gfx.. see.. i i cant get my ram under there.. cuz the mems in the pic is 32mm tall and mine are 45mm!!! so if i should be able to us the xp120 at all i need to have the heatpipes to face the ram. see?

flexy, marquzz placed XP-120 every possible way, HSF rotated, moved, etc.. The pipes would touch the GFX the other way, look at the size left.. You can't use 4-th DIMM slot.

hmmm if this is going to be a problem perhaps an XP-90 would be better unless someone could recommend something else. I would like to use 2 + 4 as oskar stated those are better for performance. I also would like to be able to switch dimms if need be and not have my vid card in the way.
but i mean how do we know its better with slots 2 and 4??? cuz someone said so.. and ONLY this person.. I havent seen a thread that goes.. Must put dimms in 2 and 4 cuz it sux in 1 and 3.. if that actually was the case then its a mobo error nothing else.. In 1 case perhaps 2 and 4 was like 1% better but i mean.. come on...

I'm with flexy here. I would say that it would appear that all 4 slots are usable with the pipes facing the card, and 3 are usable with the pipes over the ram. I think what was confusing is he mentioned that with the pipes toward the card the heatsink hangs over the ram slots making it to where you would have to mount the ram before the heatsink if you wanted to use some of the slots.
It was Oskar himself who said this. He is one of the main guys who designed this board and not to mention is the main bios coder for this board as well. Do you not think this particular one person would know best?Quote:

Ok, it seemes that appearantly I wasn't clear enough so here is a short sum up:
With pipes facing the gfx:
All 4 slots usable, though max ram height is about 40mm, are your modules taller you just can't fit them under there. And if your rams are taller then about 32mm you can't mount them after HS is mounted, and due to the way the HS is mounted (you tip it over towards the slots to get those hooks in the holder) it's going to be quite hard to mount it when rams are already in slots.
Pros: All 4 slots can be populated
Cons: Max ram height is 40mm for slot 3 & 4
With pipes facing the slots:
Slot 1-3 can now be populated with ram with any height. But HS is going to be close to the gfx which could lead to problem with some third parts cooling for gfx. And slot 4 cannot hold any ram, not even low profile.
Pros: slot 3 can now hold high ram modules
Cons: Slot 4 cannot hold any module at all and HS is very close to gfx.

Just RELAX.. it would run just a smooth as in 1/3. Well, there are cases, when u have to swap RAM, if you have some OC incompatibilties (MSI).. But DFI board?
