...it's got nearly every available video port conceivable HDMI, RCA, DVI, VGA, S-Video. Too bad it's all for crappy onboard vid. ;)Quote:

Intel sure does make feature-rich boards though. I wonder if the memory slots will cause any conflict with an ARIA PSU.
Wonder if this chipset has the same limitation like the other Intel 900 series... 10% overclock and system crashes and resets frequency
Several manufactures done something about it and made 25% overclock reachable, but still - non of them managed to lock the PCI-E frequency... only manipulate it wich got Abit to ~260-265 MHz FSB and Asus to ~275-280MHz FSB (remember 200MHz is default - Dothan is 133MHz so 25% would be a max FSB of 166MHz).
Looking forward to se what Alviso does.. it's a major step ahead for the Dothan to be a workstation alternative. Still needs hyper-threading though, but Yonah should have that (dual core Dothan:))
Another thing... just saw that the board only supports dual channel when using DDR2, but on the brigth side I don't think that asynchronous FSB:RAM ratios are neccerssary anymore now it gets the bandwidth it needs. So considering the Dothan is a 133MHz FSB and FSB migth only be overclockeable to 166-200MHz, then DDR2 running synchronously with the lowest timings (3-2-2-8?) can't be that expensive. A good pair of value PC4200/5300 will proberly do it :)
Hey,
Sexy board :D
Forgive my ignorance, but what are the R/G/B ports, and the small connector underneath it?
Cheers,
Suman
apoen > dfi for now.. the newer dfi board doesnt have dual channel and lacks all those nice video outputs.
Most people say dual channel only in DDR2 but VR says DC for both? they are mistaken?

looks promising.
But if they're going to use DDR2, I'd hope they have dividers to take advantage of it. You really need like a 1:2 divider, so 166 will give DDR666...... and then use some of that sweet OCZ stuff that runs 3-2-2

They're video outputs. RGB component and the small one is HDMI (used in projectors)Quote:

I'm seeing forum after website after forum referring to it as a HDMI socket... but the press release and photos show a D-Terminal (which, fair enough, does look very similar)...
I have to presume that the D-Terminal is on there for the same reason it exists on the Gamecube Q (made by Panasonic); because Japanese TV's - particulary HDTVs, were sold primarily with D-Terminals, not component outputs. In the USA/Europe regions, component is now very popular though. D-Terminal never really made it across the sea.
On a slightly different note, i too hope they have fixed the quite awful 915G/915P lock problem with the pci express slot, otherwise there will be some really disappointed Dothan owners who have waited 2-3 months for nothing :(
with dual channel does this mean that the dothans will benift more from the timmings on ram rather than the mhz
I don't think the coax ports are RGB - it says they are component - which is good but not as good as RGB... And practically no use in the UK (and the rest of europe?)... The reference to "the orthodox analog RGB" is just the normal VGA (DSUB) AFAIK. Still - the best thing to do is to buy an LCD / plasma TV with a DVI connector anyway ;)
when is someone going to release a setfsb/clockgen for the 915?! I just bougth a Sony Vaio which uses 915GM qnd wanna clock the sucker
the non-P4 heatsink is a huge downfall, I'll probably hold out for DFI's 915 Board.
i want a better cpu posisiton. and sata
a good heatsink or phasechange would interfere with a nvidia gfx card
Is async memory that is higher than the FSB really beneficial? I know the nForce2 had that and it didnt seem to help much.Quote:

Aren't 4 SATA ports enough? Totally agree about the CPU positioning though... seems like they switched the CPU socket and NB around :confused:Quote:

God, that looks awesome.
If DFI makes a similar chipset with the standard P4 lugs Im going for that. Plus to be honest Aopen flat out sux.
why is xtremesystems drooling over a HTPC board?
you guys are WAY too caught up in this dothan fever
sure, gaming performance is promising, but...i mean c'mon guys, there are like two desktop boards that simply aren't very good for desktop use and dothans are still an arm and a leg
