I am getting my neo2 tommorow, and I have done some research on the topic, and unaimously the best ram for this board is tccd. As you can see every once and a while the bh5 does wonderfly with the super voltages and kicks tccd but. But that is a rare occurance.. I cant remember if u said u have any bh5, but if you do, you should try it out first with the super high voltages, and if it doesnt respond go out and get some ocz platinum 3200rev2 or the ocz platinum 4200EL. the 3200 is 280 for 1024 (2x512)mb and the 4200el is 350 for 1024(2x512).

I didn't try then single channel. Yep mikead, this board is funny. The KHX wont do over 220, but the lvl2 does 280. Each board seems to be different, a friend of mines KHX just sings in his MSI.

Congrats man! One word sweeeeeeet!!! I gotta get me an OCZ memory booster. I have 4 sticks of 256mb BH-5 to try out for benching but I will run my 1gb of TCCD for day to day use :D
i got my pqi turbo 2-2-2-5 ram running at 250mhz 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2.75v okay with BIOS 1.41
i tried 260mhz and it fails memtest at 3-3-3-7 2.8v even.... might be the BIOs, some ppl say 1.41 can't handle over 250mhz. could be my timings... shrug

I've got an early shipped board K0408, acquired in August. It was produced in China and has a Korean Northbridge, 0420A2. Up until a few days ago it was still using the 1.1 bios, which was not very overclocker friendly as I could not break 300Mhz FSB even asynchronously.
I have since flashed the beta 1.36 and now have close to 1.9v available to the CPU, and much better overclockability.
There are no mods to the board outside of pulling the northbridge and applying some Arctic Silver. I utilize the OCZ DDR booster and 520 watt PowerStream PSU exclusively, running 3.7v to the ram.
From day one in August I've used the booster in slot 4 and populated Dimm slots 1 and 2 with ram.
Have had little time for much testing or benching the past few months but here are the conclusions I've reached utilizing a 3500+ Newcastle:
Success: Kingston KHX3500/256 BH-5 2x256MB, late 2002 vintage - Have been benching the last 2 days(on air) at 9x287Mhz 1-1 @ 2-2-2-5 1T command @ 3.7v. With bios 1.36beta I was able to crack the 300Mhz barrier, benching at 8x319Mhz with the ram asynchronous running the 200/166 divider. 33 second 1M Super Pi at either configuration.
I don't have a #$%^ing clue why this BH-5 runs so well whilst all others in my arsenal are mediocre, even proven sticks. It does have chips on both sides of the PCB too(4 each side). It may be the Newcastles Memory controller....or the programming of the ram itself. To be honest...these 2 sticks of ram sucked on every other platform I've run...from VIA based to nForce2 to nForce 3 150.
Success : TwinMos PC3200 256MB CL2.5 - BH-5 Single sided(8 chips on one side), I only have one stick of this stuff from 2002, but it runs like the Kingston does equally. Wish I had another stick to go with it;)
To add insult to injury, I was also one of the first with an Abit AV8. Yeah...the board everyone calls a POS because it won't clock. With the OCZ booster and the above ram it ran 270Mhz 1-1. The locks don't work so I had to rely on an add in PCI IDE controller to prevent borfing my hard drive, ala the good ole days with the KG7, KR7A, KX7 and KD7.
Mediocre to just not happening at all: Corsair CMX256A - 3200LL(XMS3205v1.1) BH-5 Double sided like the Kingston but just will not run above 240Mhz no matter the voltage or timings.
OCZ PC3500 Platinum Limited Edition 2x256MB - BH-5 Single sided like the TwinMos, these are my babies...the pride and joy of Icee's test bench.
These puppies(each stick, one at a time) aboard my old faithful Shuttle AN50R/A64 3200+ set a then record of 310MHz 1-1 @ 2-2-2-5 timings. They also allowed me to run asynch and be the first to successfully bench 3DMark with an AMD at 334Mhz FSB.
Guess what?? They won't run singly or together above 230Mhz at any voltage or timing on the MSI. They are still forever keepers:)
OCZ PC3200 Platinum Limited Edition BH-5 - 2x256MB Single sided also, these sticks did not perform as exceptional as the previous PC3500 on other platforms, they performed the same as the OCZ PC3500 on the MSI.
Special mention : Kingston KHX4300K2 2x512MB Double sided. I'm not totally certain and maybe someone can help me here, I believe these sticks are Hynix based.
They are designed to run at 266Mhz @ 3-4-4-8 timings, and do so very well. They will run up to 275Mhz at 2.9v. More voltage does not help them go higher, but for a daily use rig you could safely run day in and day out at these relaxed timings without worry. The only downside is the loss of bandwidth in benching compared to the tight timings of the KHX3500 at high voltage.
The other observation is this ram likes dimm slots 3+4 with the OCZ DDR booster in slot 1.
Thats it for now my friends, if I'm fortunate enough to get my hands on other types or brands of ram, I'll report back:)

similar results with my DFI NF3 250Gb and KHX3200 BH-5 vs OCZ PC3500 Platinum BH-5
1GB OCZ BH-5 is the best BH-5 i have on all but DFI NF3 250GB board all other boards easy 255mhz 2-2-2-6 at 3.2-3.4v but on DFI can't get past 233mhz 2-2-2-6
While 1GB KHX3200/512 BH-5 on all boards were poorer oc'ers 235-245mhz 2-2-2-6 at 3.4-3.6v, on DFI they do 245-250mhz 2-2-2-6 at 3.58v
Something to do with SPD programming + PCBs i guess

It's hard to speculate why the MSI is so finicky with certain types of BH-5, but I bet it is due to a couple of factors like SPD programming, DS vs. SS, and PCB. But too some extent beyond the Motherboard I think the Memory controller in the CPU has some influence in this equation.
I have 2x512mb OCZ Platinum ED BH-5 and back when i had an nf7-s i found that anything over 200 at cas 2.0 (no matter what timing) was unstable, i think the same thing applies to my DFI but with cas 2.5 i can do 230 in DC @ 3.2v on the DFI.
I read a review somewhere a while ago and someone mentioned that they couldnt oc the sticks with cas 2.0 above 200mhz stable but managed around 250 fsb with 2.5.
I dont think that the timings make much difference, just the CAS.

However, i might have a different revision to you guys because i got mine in the UK and most of you are from the US :).

And, with Corsair TwinX XMS Pro 3200
2.5-3-3-6 1T, but 250 FSB seemed to be about the limit. Any looser timings did not help stability past 250 FSB.

HAs anyone tested this board with 4X512 with the new Twinmoss Winbond UTT chips?
what version is that corsair 3200xl ? you ran it 280 1:1 ? and what volts ? is that ram tcc4 or different chips ? reason im asking i have the same ram and get errors (memtest) 1:1 225 2.5-3-3-7 1T but running atm 2.5-3-3-7 260x10 5:4 divider 2.85 voltsQuote:
