EP-9NDA3+ vmods?

i'll cross those bridges tomarrow. So far he's been out to 3.2vdimm and 1.72~1.73vcore with these mods. He's use'n the bios sensors to monitor voltage but i'll get the read points as im gonna hang extensions off them. Credit Stevehat1 over at FM for being the guinne pig and QD for the resister values. All i did was ferry information really :toast:

Im pretty sure vtt tracks since he's use'n 3.2vdimm. 1.4vtt prolly wouldnt keep up to well but its hard to say. Its so similar to the 8kda3 that i imagine it does.

as for vdd, i'll look into it if i run into a situation where it becomes a problem. but im way over 300htt as it is.


i still havnt even gotten my board to boot outside my case yet, but ddr booster ETA tomarrow. 5 each 5k/10k/20k/50k/100k 15 turn ceremets and 30 smd grabbers ETA tomarrow also. I should have gotten a couple of 500k's but i forgot. Doubt the ddr booster will work, but wanted to try it and even if it doesnt i can get back $40 of it or slamm it in my nf7-s 2.0.

Well the ddr booster doesnt work, and killed the board. New one on order, should be here next week.

okay sportsfans. epox #2 is in and other than a very very slow running nvlan(got a netgear lan card in) she's just as good if not a hair better than the first one.

For the Vdimm mod you may use some of the free points "left" by epox below the chip - find them by using the multimeter. Easier than soldering directly to the chip pins, and also easier to remove.

ok so what size resistor do i need for vdimm? I'm looking for 3.3 and up. My bh5's need volts :)
And yes, where is the vdimm read point?

I am using Epox 9nda3j, but i think this mobo is similar to Epox 9nda3+.
On 9nda3j, when the vdimm setting in BIOS is 2.8V, Connect pin 6 of RT9202(U7) and GND with about 6.5k resistor, you can get 3.0v Vdimm.
As for read point , i think the pin of inductor near RT9202 will be OK.

So does this board feed VDimm from the +5V rail or the +3V? I see lots of posts with people running under +3.3V, but if it feeds off the +5V we could run a lot higher. I don't have one myself yet, but I'd buy one if I knew I could get over 3.3V to the Dimms, not using a vio mod. I prefer to be able to adjust below 3.3V too.

BTW how can the mod be done on the SC2643VX legs ( rev 2.1 ) , because i use smdgrabbers ?

Well, since I don't have the board atm, I can't say for certain, but I don't think the grabbers will work for you. Kyosen is pretty good, and probably would have gone this route, not grabbers, but the way I'm about to describe if possible. If the side(s) of R278 and R288 that are not connected by a trace to the SC2643VX legs is on ground, then you can put VR's in parallel to the on-board resistors, without replacing them to lower resistence. This is easier then replacing the resistors, but again, I think kyosen would have dropped VR's off of the controller legs to ground if this could have been done. If you ohm out the opposite side of those resistors and do find ground (no power on the board and lowest scale on dmm) let me know and I can tell you what value to try. Don't think you will find ground there though. :shakes:

edit to add: and if it isn't ground there, there still may be a slim chance you could do something if there is a clip point right on the other side of the resistor (electrically right after, not necessarily physically), but again, that's slim and doesn't look good from the pics.

Well, I just got my board today....un-mod'ed atm, but it won't make it through the weekend like that I think. I just wanted to add a couple things to this thread. The first is that I poked around a bit on the v2.1 VCore controller area and Cranox, I think you are SOL for a clip-on mod. Your going to have to solder.

The other thing I wanted to add was I went ahead and marked the VDimm measure point on a pretty marked up pic of the board from this thread. Hell-Fire, I'm guessing you will just add this to the previously marked pic? And if anyone is interested, it is a +5V derived VDimm. :banana: Also FWIW, my USDM and BIOS both report VDimm more then .05V low. When set to 2.6V, they report 2.58V, DMM shows 2.65V, and I see the same type of thing when set to 2.7V. So the board actually overvolts just a bit. Lots more playing to do now. :toast:

But i only have one question, i've read that if you raise the vdimm above 2.8 a mosfet will fry, is this only with the booster or also with the vmod?

Only with the booster because it's not compatible with this board.

Yup, it is a 5V FET, so you can run pretty high VDimm through it. I've been doing 3.6V 24/7 for a couple of weeks now. Just no booster, but the VDimm supplied with the mod is so freaking stable I'd rather have it then the booster anyway. :D Beautiful board for Winbond!

i couldn't find a 25/50k VR at the local shop,

but i think a 20k will do the trick to!

It appears the picture is gone from your post(or I can't see it). Can someone please repost the Vdimm measurement point. My board should be here tomorrow and I'm ready to mod....:)

I have already done the mod but not tested yet (waiting for cpu). Before testing i have a question (should have ask for it earlier) but does the mod look the same on every revision?

One more question:
Lowering resistance means higher vdimm yes?

@ Da_BoKa: Even a 10k will work just fine, I forget but maybe .1V or .15V increase at 10k....prolly .15V.

@ Adasi: Yeah, VDimm is the same on both board Revs, and yup again, lower pot resistance to raise VDimm.

I just finished the mod on my 9NDA3J using grabbers and it worked like a champ. Throwing ~3.4v to my BH5 sticks... :toast:

I had that board Epox 9NDA3+ for a couple months now, I bourght it when it first came out, I was lucky, because I've also DDR:Booster, and I was gonna try it with 9NDA3+, but I din't have alot time lately, into today I found out by reading this thread, and i seen that Mongoose420 had Killed his board by messing with DDR:Booster, (Thank you dude ! You just save me from kiling my board with it :rolleyes: ) Anyway, now I think i have to do the mod like everyBody else :( But I need to know one thing, if i want my Vdimm around 3.0v, what resitance pot I should have ? :confused:

So, if you use a 10k VR, like in your pic, but 10k, you'll see about .15V more then you have it set in bios, that is if I recall correctly. I really can't say with certainty that it wasn't more(wouldn't have been much more), I didn't stay down that low long enough to really note it. Just adjusted to 3.3V right off the bat and finally settled in at 3.6V. Rig's half torn down now so I can't really double check for you. If you are concerned, use the 50k variable shown in the pic and adjust as needed.
