Write a mail to Nvidia/Alienware/ATI... Or wait and see...
Maybe they will all do it in different ways...
I think that it will use 2x256MB ram... Comeon people... we live in 2004... They arent going to waste 256MB of expensive ram...
Harddisks in raid-0 still have 2x8MB cache...(If its a 8MB cache they hgave)
But lets wait and see...
if the load for each gpu is changing constantly due to balancing the workload, of course its only going to perform like 256mb, or else each card would be constantly changing textures to accomadate the workload. That would lead to a lot of performance lost.
They are the engineers...I am sure they know what they are doing...and know a lot better than us.
I'm sure they have already looked at it from different angles and looked at the pros/cons of different approaches (being engineers, that's what they do).
