Thx for the help STE.
I agree. A wire from an IDE cable will not be able to handle the amount of current thrown by the the 3.3v power rail.
I would use atleast a 20 gauge wire for this mod.

Will using more then 20gauge matter???
I would use something around the same thickness as the actual wires running down the ATX Connector bundle bud.
You can add a VR to that wire to lower the voltage if you so desire to do so.
So using the a wire from the psu will do???
Ok if i had to use a VR between them what VR should i use???
thanx soo much
A very small ohm VR.. and at least 3 - 5watts.. You don't need much ohm, somewhere around .5ohms....
It is kind of hard to find a small vr like this.... You are best to just either use 3.3v or 2.85v... If you are using bh5 memory it will handle this no problem... I have been using 3.35v with no problems with A64 mem controller... I think that most all A64 were killed by the Shuttle AN50R:D
Dont bother with a VR unless you can get one in the 25w range..
Ok thanx for the help guys.... i will do as u say... i will not use a VR as u say the bh-5 can handle more then 3.3v....
Btw should i remove the HS off the ram and place a fan on it or just the fan with the HS will do???
Ok so here i ask finally before doing the mod...can i use any of the PSU wire???{I got a no working psu from which i can take some}
I also got 40gauge wire.... can i use that instead.....
pls let me know... thanx ... cant wait... i have already broken 25k on a 6800GT with ony 2300mhz with 230fsb 2.5-4-10-4.... so i can a lot more when i am finished with the mods.....
Thanx
The RAM temps whould vary much.
And any of the wires on the PSU ATX connector unless its a sense wire(smaller then other...)...
Yay!Did the vdimm mod yesterday along with the x800 pro Vgpu mod, both my first ever vmods.:toast:
Now not having much space to power the mobo up outside of the case I put it back in and my case has watercooling tubing all over the place so its hard to probe with a multimeter at the Vdimm testing point.
So my question is how can I find out the actual vdimm Ive got now using hardware monitoring software?
Using Aida32 Vbat battery is reading 2.74V regardless of the BIOS setting. Is this my Vdimm?
There is also a CPU Aux Voltage of 3.14V. Could that be the vdimm?
Sorry for the n00bish questions.
bah come one some1!!!!
Okay to the right of your dimm slots there is a blank cap space there, you can measure the vdimm on the (+) side.....Just put your neg probe in an empty P.S. connectory.... As far as software reading vdimm, it won't read the correct vdimm if modded...
James, I would only use the big wires on the powersupply...:D
Cheers. 3.39V is what Im getting. The RAM is very hot to touch, do you guys reckon a fan blowing on them is required?Quote:

They are BH-5 with heatspreaders.
I would put a fan blowing on them just for safety.
Also, solder a wire to the Vdimm red point of the "+" side of that empty cap solder pad Jason is referring to so you can easily check the Vdimm.
cheers, got a zalman bracket on its way.:)Quote:

can you tell me of any advantages of vmodding the Vdd?
I mean it doesnt allow more stable higher HTTs with 2 DIMMS does it?
thats the problem with this mobo.put one DIMM in and you can set the HTT as high as the mem will go or even higher with 5:6 etc but as soon as you put 2 DIMMS in it wont boot above 236ish HTT.
Try setting your LDT multiplier to 3X, And then put your two sticks of mem in slot 1 & 3 or 2 & 3.Quote:

cheers, I will try it.does lowering the LDT to 3x not decrease the performance though?Quote:

Not that much, get stability first.
This board for some reason likes 3x. I coulnt get it to run higher when I had it.
jess1313,
how did your neo plat pan out?
The vdd mod didnt' help me any... I maxed out at 250ish range for 24/7 stability... I was hoping for more, but w/ 2 X 512mb it's pretty much up to the A64's memory controller....w/ 2 X 256mb I could run the memory faster..
RIP two times?
I have no idea, I never got my board back.
It was posted that it was going to be shipped out over a week ago but its not here nor have I got any word about it.
Yes it will take LDT & chipset mods to get it to go. If you can get 250 stable then you should hit it with some BH5/6. If the board want perform on that then its a waste off time anyway.
Anyone know where the LDT voltage is located?
Ah I just walked in the door, the board had arrived today. Give me about a hours hear I will tell you where the LDT voltage is & get some results going & see if we can get this board working the way it should.
Well I really dont know what to say. The board want even come close to posting.
I have tried about all, I am doing a hotflash right now but it looks like a last shot.
Well I guess I dont know about the mods, if they work or not.
It was a new board.
I got the board back DOA ,
so maybe the mods work, maybe they dont.
the vdimm mod certainly works, got an extra 8MHz outa my BH-5 on tightest timings. but its the HTT letting me down, cant get stable with anything over 235-238ish no matter what the mem ratio or LDT are set to. Maybe the Vdd mod will help but im thinking probably not!:(Quote:

think its time to change mobos for me, I want to overclock!
