Is that the only VC you have?
no, i have a ATI rage 3D+ DVD PCI lolll and a matrox G400 :D
Waiting for NF4+SLI
Man! You need a video card.
I have a 939 MBD but no CPU. OPP had a 3800+. I should have gotten it from him. I think he sold it already.
yess i neeed moneyyyyyyy !!!!!!! :(
its the ASUS a8v
trouble was after install it would run dirt slow after the splash screen before you get to putting in your name then locked up right before the desktop appeared then on reboot system32 config corrupted so I got pissed and Iam reloading the single drive.
either way OCing is 225 x 11 2450 Mhz becomes unstable over that timing 2-4-4-9 on Geil ultra PC3500.
wish I could mess with the multiplyier and find out if its the memory or chip. never know maybe the memory needs more than 2.8v and on this board can you check to see if the AGP is locked???
my last Asus 7n8 deluxe board was limited to 181 mhz until I locked the AGP and went to 205 Mhz. Wondering if the AGP could be holding me back on this setup.
oh well done rambling gotta load my benches programs.
let ya know

All S939 are FX-53s. No Newcastles anywhere. Hmmmmm... If they were so fast I'd think OPP could have gotten on the front page with at least one of them. I know he's had at least 2, and 3 S939 motherboards that I know of, maybe 4. Hmmmmm....
So we have:
Socket 754 = 8
Socket 940, 939, P4EE = 4 each
So before we say how much better dual channel is than single channel in 2k1, let's get the facts straight. Right now there are twice as many S754 chips on the front page as any other CPU, even though the S754 is the only CPU on the ORB that is not running DC.;)
well the 939 is still fairly new so that could be one reason.. I think people dont see a particular reason to change those 752 cause the gain is pretty much, if any, nothing.. I think its too early to use the orb as a compare. But I really still want to see a head to head comparison between your guys CPU´s. :)

2 place.. 3400+ newcastle I think..
edit 2 --
No its not :D
Yeah, but the other reason could be that Newcastle is slow, right?:confused:Quote:

I dont think slow´s the right word.. slower maybe but I dont know.. Thats what we are here to find out right?Quote:

Hence the words "could be".:rolleyes:Quote:

Well call it what you want. The bottom line is you will not be seeing a Newcastle on the front page of the 2k1 ORB, and the missing cache is the reason. Same with a non-EE P4. Only a EE has the power to compete with the AMDs, and it's for the same reason. CACHE!;)
could be but i´ll still give it a few more days before making these claim.. But it sure looks like you´re right..Quote:

The only reason I can make that claim is because I and many others I know (some of them are top overclockers) have seen it, both with S939 and S754. Answer me this? What is a Celeron (besides a complete slug)??? That's right, it's a decent processor minus the cache, which makes it slow. A Duron? An XP without cache...SLOW!!! The importance of cache is even understood by Intel. The fact that they still sell tons of celery proves that the buying public is not so aware of the importance of cache. Oh well...Quote:

I could have got a 53 instead of a a64 but couldn't justify the extra 400.00 at this point.
its a shame, you give even semi informed people a bad name by being so damn ignorant. Your set up didnt have enough steam to be on the frontpage with air, you had to go to phase change and get 2.9ghz out of your chip. There isnt a chip on the front page lower than 2.8ghz from any platform and afaik i havnt seen a 3500/3800+ at higher than 2.65ghz. there's only 1 score fast enough to be on the front page under 2.7ghz and its by macci. So once someone applies the cooling that you need to get on the front page with any chip to a 3500/3800 you'll see one on there. If it only takes a little better than 32k to get on the front page when i get everything set up i expect to be there and without PC cooling.
my 3500+/x800xt was around 1800 points short of your 3700+/x800xt both chips at 2.6ghz +/- and out of about 30k thats a about a 6% diffrence. Wow, car high and both lobby scores were virtualy even.
Yes the 3500/3800 chips are absolute dogs and no one should buy one ever.
They shouldn't buy them. That's exactly what I'm saying.
Wake up!!! You got taken. They are not worth the money. Sorry, but calling people names will not make your chip faster or your purchase any more wise.:(
First you try and belittle my non-vmodded achievement by saying I "had to resort to PC" and then in the very next breath you say nobody can get on page one on air. You don't see how rediculous that is?
Don't blame me. I didn't tell you to buy that Newcastle. If you asked me if a Celeron is a good buy I would have told you no on that as well. ;)
BTW...you have no chance to be on the front page unless you buy an FX-53. You won't be seeing any Celerons there either.:ROTF:
Using the logic of taking the orb as gospel that would mean that the FX53 on socket 940 is better than the FX53 on 939 - I hardly think that is the case but the 940 holds two of the first four places whereas the best the 939 has is 5th....
There are lies, damn lies and there are statistics....
Lets wait for the 939 socket to mature and more people to get there hands on them before the rush to judgement.
I still would like to hear Opp oppinion about this.. I believe he wrote in a thread that his fx53 s939 was flying.. Dude where are you :D
This is a comparison between pkrew's S939 chip and my S754 chip. I wont make any coment, except look at the lobby scores. Judge for yourself.

After reading this thread I almost thought XS got another GeforceTi4200 :D
Nice post there Codered, the lobby speaks for itself.
all these CPUs are fast no doubt about it
I wonder how those scores would compare if the s939 was running a 273 FSB and clocked at the same Mhz instead of being down 77 mhz.
blazing scores either way wish mine was that fast and stable.
Nice graphic. To bad it's not correct. pkrew is at 11x266, not 12x244.:rolleyes:Quote:

It is well known that DC chips do better in Lobby, no shocking news here. Now would you please read the title of this thread and tell me what your post has to do with a 3500+? Neither you nor pkrew are running a Newcastle. Every negative thing I said is concerning the Newcastle cores, not S939 in general. Just trying to pick a fight?
As long as you have decided to take this thread completely OT, from your post it is apparent to me that the S754 holds it's own against the S939 stuff, even the FX-53 which SHOULD be a much faster chip. If pkrew was running a 3800+ at that speed he wouldn't even be on the front page. Cache???? Read previous posts??? Newcastle is to FX-53 what Duron is to AXP.
Also, OC Detective...right now the S940 FX-53 IS a better CPU because it has real motherboards. The S939 still needs a motherboard to be useful. Chips without motherboards are not good for much.;)
bias_hjorth
I think OPP speaks very clearly. His last bench (world record...) was after he had played around with several S939 chips and motherboards. It doesn't get much clearer than that!;)
Congrats to pkrew...almost 35k on an aircooled X800 XT!!! GJ!
well I might be getting a 3500+ soon. I have an FX 53 too and both will be phase change cooled
one on gigabyte and one on Asus provided RMA goes through ok.
I'm thinking of buying OPP's 3800+ but I don't know if I want to make a point that badly. He's selling it cheap though. Still, I keep seeing a Celeron everytime I look at it.
i wassnt belittleing your achievement of 30+k all air but the point remains that your set ups only signifacantly faster in 2 tests, drag low and lobby low clock for clock and the overall diffrence is a measly 5%. Use'n the first page of the orb is a very uninformed way to judge a processors ability when we havnt seen a single chip at the speeds and cooling EVERY CHIP needs to be there, include'n yours. And i dont blame anyone, im very happy with my newcastle thank you very much.Quote:

and i dont see how you could say that i cant gain 3k by putt'n a chip that does 2.64ghz on the retail cooler under very capable watercooling and take'n putt'n water+pelter cooling on the vga card. I'll enjoy try'n to shove that down your throat. 2.75ghz 250x11 1:1 and 610/610 ish clocks to the x800xt should put me there if i still only have to be slightly faster than 32k to do get in.
You may want to PM OPP before you waste time with that Newcastle. With the card on good cooling you may break 32k, but I don't think so.
Here's something to think about:
By the time you get your rig ready to go 32k won't cut it. Actually, you already need more than that. 32.25k will get you the bottom spot on page one (today anyway).
