I tried doing this and I messed up (just like i did with the VDroop mod lol). I had some solder on the tip of my iron and it dropped on the winbond chip legs, will a desoldering iron fix this? I tried turning the board on and the LED shows 2 and then it shows F. I've tried using a soldeirng iron and a little chisel sort of thing to get some of it off and it helped, but theres still some on there. Any tips? And if someone is willing to fix the board I can ship it out :-D
um try to liquify it, the ic legs should be able to take a little heat. Solder ussually sticks to the solder on the iron. anyway i measured the vdimmw ith my booster in, al the way upto 3.95v, and the voltage is more stable with the booster and it is totaly responsive.
i did try liquifying it and it did help get some of it off but theres still some there :-/
Go to a Radio Shack store and look for desoldering braid. Put in on the solder on the board and put the iron tip on top of it to heat it up. It will suck the solder and clean the legs.;)
And this should probably fix the whole issue? or is it like 50/50? I know desoldering braid isn't much, like $3? But I'm just not ready to waste another like 2-3 hours trying to fix it if it won't work. :-P
10 min and you can take all that soldering from the legs.:D
So far it took most of it off but theres still some there so I'm not getting any dice -_-. I dont know if it has to do with being a 25 watt Iron, but I don't think thats the case... I have a broken AS8, is there anyone I could ship both boards out to and maybe they can put the winbond chip from the bad AS8 over to the new one (i.e. a Rework)? Or is there a place I can ship it out to to have it done professionally but under 50 dollars? Being 16 and no job sucks and I'll have is 50 bucks so if someones willing to fix it I can ship it out.
oh yeah this is your second board, that sucks man,.
