depending on the CPU, 1.9V is too much to get an optimal OC
Any verdict on this Assus board ? I'm watching my vcore go from 1.688 to 1.634 on my IT7. I want to buy a new board!!
I dont like the P4PE so far :(
up & running @ 1.55v , lowest she can go
didn't have time to overclock, had to fix the Win2000 installation first :-)
tommorow I'll find out how far this standard intel cooler will take me :)
I hate this board. I really do.
Please someone remind me next time I think of buying an ASSus, slap me in the face or something
- memory will not run 3D past 220, at least it made 232 on the IT7
- There are a sh*tload of memory timings and all but changing them doesnt have any positive effects
- they connected the onboard sound plugs wrong. Since when is red the line out and green the mic???
- in the memory options, they accidentally made a "4" where it should be a "2" in memory frequency. You select something 4xx MHz and end up with 240 (DDR, 120 MHz).
- MBM and CPU cool cant find any voltage or temp sensors... wtf?
oh and its slow as an overweight dog with leukemia in 3Dmark
my week so far : 2 dead abits, a pos P4PE and a worse radeon 9700 than I started with. Oh and I'm broke.
My P4PE seems to be a good one. I had horrible luck with the P4T533 myself. the P4T-E was also good to me.
JC you need to sacrafice a chicken, burry the head under the NE corner of your house for 21 days and on the 21st day take a hair clipping, faucett water, and moisten the hair and stick that to the back of the mobo or video card. Everything should work itself out in no time.
All kidding aside, I am also finding that the P4PE does well with PCM and poor in 3DM as well. The Sandra scores I posted show poor bandwidth at a high FSB. Something does not add up and if the next bios rev does no good I may jump back on the IT7 untill I get a 3.06 HT chip.
JCViggen: sorry to hear that... I was kinda thinking about
getting a P4PE....
Maybe the Epox 845PE (on which Epox brought back the P4 power connector)
will yield some 4bda-like results :D
Next time if you think of buying an A:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: board, think of my sig first :DQuote:

so we rule the p4pe out of the equation...
anybody get a chance to try out that epox offering?
are we really gonan have to wait until we get dcddr before a nice board pops up again?
I am pulling out the P4PE, it is a stable board that run good at high speeds. but it just does not perform like the IT7.
I still do not trust the memory timing, the numbers are too low.
I have a cold boot issue sometimes.
On the good side I was able to do all my testing without whacking the hard drive once.
Hi FUGGER :)
I got this P4PE for a review in my PC right now and I'm not very pleased with it too, although the fact, that I got no cold boot issues....
Anyway, just found that there's new BETA BIOS for this mb, you may wanna try it anyway :D
ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/asus/mb/sock478/p4pe/1002p4pe01.zip
Thanks for the BIOS update, I will give it a try.
Well today I found, that there's even newer BIOS, 1002, but not a beta...
ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIO...E/1002__02.zip
Helped me to gain some stability with the two CPUs for testing - the 2GHz Celeron NW went right up to 3120MHz/1.725V - not bad for AIR, but not as fast as I wanted it to be...
A 3Ghz celeron
Nice
I will test the new 1002 tonight.
Well there's even newer BIOS:
ftp://ftp.asuscom.de/pub/ASUSCOM/BIO...E/1002__03.zip
You may wanna try it also.... I'll give it a try tonight with some 2.4B CPUs.....
Well after tonight I end up with 3204MHz 2.4B and a 3D MARK Result of 14474...
http://service.madonion.com/compare?2k1=4860700
And that's not even the MAX....
This MoBo is good, indeed......

Keep the info coming guys, as I may get a P4PE soon :D
I'm impressed with the P4B533-E I"m using :)
pc ice, the new bios works better for me, I also have the corsair PC3500C2 but I do not have the problem getting higher than 169 on the P4PE.
Does turning off enhance help?
Here's what my friend's P4PE, P4 1.6A and Corsair XMS3200 C2.5 can do:

Beats my old 1001 bios sandras by quite a bit, is that with the new bios?
He told me: stock BIOS. Maybe his board comes with the new BIOS ? I dunno, let me ask him again.Quote:

This is crazy ! I'm going to buy a P4PE !
My friend's result:

Niko carefull as the P4PE is not as strong as the IT7 in 3DMark from what me and JC have observed.
I will be benching again this weekend at 3.55Ghz, my P4PE can OC the R9700 core higher than my IT7. AGP diving strength or more voltage to the AGP slot? 418 vcore vs 430 vcore.
The P4PE does ok at PCMark tho
Also with the new bios I see my vcore jumping around more.
It also seems like it boots faster. It will load all the way into windows before the monitor warms up.
 WOW :eek:Quote:

That fast?!? What kind of monitor do you have?
