yes, BUT
when FX-53 939 comes out (maybe in late June) it WILL be $899. The first 939/nF3250/K8T800Pro mobo's WILL BE $209-$239...
P4 3.0C is what? like $189 and a great 875P mob is <$100. SO depending on what your using it for...the P4 may be every bit as "wise" as a 939FX. Me for example, I'll grab a 939 just for benching sport, but I'd never own such an expensive rig for my desktop, lol. My new desktop is:
XP-M 2600+ @ 2600mHz
Abit NF7-S v2
BH-6
Fortron 350W Hi-Q
with low budget watercooling. Now I'm waiting for the Sapphire 9800 Pro 256/256 r360 models to dip under $200 and I'm all over it. I can't stand having a "depreciating" rig on my desktop... the "above" rig will be VERY fast for gaming, internet, editing family piccies from the digi-cam and such things :D
I think the P4 3.0C/IC7/R9800Pro combo will be the "next" hot budget combo!
C
the next hot budget combo will be a 2800+ ath 64 + kv8 pro or something, newer chips seem to hit 2.6Ghz easy on water, on a very fast chipset, the board is £76, which for a new board on new chipset is extremely cheap in the uk, boards like this, the k8v and all other s754 boards are £90-100 , the 3000+ in the uk is at £145 ish now, the 2800+ must be like £125 which is cheaper than a 3.0C and will go down again once the s939 stuff is out, will be cheaper, and faster.
Honestly thats not cheap even its not budget, its merely the cheapest way to get high end kit. BUdget and plenty fast for anything you need to do is a 2400+ mobile barton, and a nf2 say infinity board.
Either way socket 939 is damned fast but i thought we all knew that? IT will be nice, there should be fx53 on 939 release and probo a 3800+ which shouldn't be more than £330, the boards shouldnt' be that expensive either, the 940's are that much now and the s939 boards will be 4 isntead of 6 or 6 instead of 8 layer(i forget which) so will be much cheaper. Theres no reason they will be much more than current nf250 boards, same chipset, layout features, simply diff socket. It will cost more due to marketing and stuff, but shouldn't jump to that high.
Interesting...From where have you got it ?
He got it from a friend that is a beta tester :) read page 1Quote:

Komplett.no have the A8V (K8T800 PRO) listed for NOK 1265... without VAT it's around USD 148, EUR 125 or GBP 84.Quote:

yep, I'm working with this really busted up mobo that randomly reboots and crashes (even at stock speeds) just waiting for 939 to come out, then I'll buy the best 939 mobo and the cheapest 939 chip.
ASUS A8V :p:

sxs112
Do you have it? We'd love ya to o/c that chip.
One more thing - can you post a picture of a stock S939 cooler?
I hope this isn't off topic but when is AMD including PCI-E? I'm torn on weather or not to go A64 before PCI-E or wait until after and save the turnover
edit: I mean this as in do you beta testers have a timetable?
Socket 939 is turning out to be quite satisfactory :D. No more registered ram for the FX series and dual-channel goodness for plain A64s :). I have to resist...until 90nm A64s come out...:p:.
sxs112,
please run 3DMark2001 and post results. I'm interested in seeing Car High Detal framerate. Sandra Memory benchmark also and Hexus PiFast. Please:)
The thing is will the S939 Mobo support PCI-Xpress?

I would like to know this as well, because the next time I do a full system upgrade I really don't want to still be running AGP (it won't be for a while).Quote:

Will we be seing any 3D-benches from you? What kind of videocard do you have in there?
Could you maybe run something to test memory latency, like CacheMem32? Then we could get yuri to run it @ the same timings as you have and get a great comparison.
yuri
Could you run SuperPi 32M @ 5-3-3 CAS 2.5 like sxs112 so we can judge purely on the performance of the chipset? Of course, I mean do a clean run with those timings.
 no, all new fx cpus will cost 733Quote:

yuri, you were running the 1m @ 2.5-3-3-8 , he was running the 1m @ 3-3-3-8, so his sys is probably a sec faster.
No, I don't think CL 2.5 vs 3.0 is worth 1 whole second, but someone can try to prove me wrong.Quote:

I agree.. CAS doesn´t matter much on the A64.. if it were tRCD 2 go 3.. then maybe.
