Nice, but didnt someone say -140 will kill the CPU ?

Nice, but didnt someone say -140 will kill the CPU ?
The boiling point of methane is??? -161C SO the surface of the block unloaded will be ??? Who knows, on the processor under load I think it may reach -150 at idle and probable -140 maybe less at load..benching I am just as curious as you all are.... we will see as the build proceeds... back to work....
If you were to blow on the block your CO2 in your breath will freeze before it touches the surface....
lol, you gotta take a pic of that :D
ln2 is colder than that.Quote:

Chilly.....is that your cascade or ice's ???
The Liquid Nitrogen Guys get colder then that so -150c would be fine. This should be fun. I love making things COLD!!!!!!:banana:Quote:

After my watercooling rig I must do phase cooling
Anxious for benchs and parts list
Nice stack of parts Chilly1. This is gonna be exciting!!:)
Mine... this will be going to fugger.... Got a lot to finish tonight before I work on this though I have a prommie to re test tonight and a chiller to pack for shipping....But I should post more here tonight...Quote:

EDIT read first post again....wow!!! :slobber:
i meant to ask how cold will it get when he tests it before mounting.
-150C :slobber:
should be a lot of fun.... subscribed ;)
chilly1 have you made a -150 vapor phase change system before
looking at your pic under your name how and what on did you achive that
The -150degF in my pic is actually -104degC And this is a two stage...
Id love for someone on this site to take a in-depth step by step thread
I wanna learn how to build systems badly...i have read a bunch and trying to understand the basic concepts...seems to be eluding me
I am stuck tryin to figure out how to put back together my chiller system...evap,condensor and compressor all apart now...gonna find copper piping around the first
The build will be placed in the original post. first page look there for updates and pictures..... new today, cart for assembley all the materials are in this cart.
507/290 first R1150/R290 second R50/R1150/R290 third. This one will not autocascade. The R290 is only about 1% system charge The r1150 is the tuning gas for the hird stage and will help with the head pressure.Quote:

Looks very nice, cant wait to see the whole thing.
are you using the r290 to help get some of the oil to circulate around the system?
Ahh, and then use this CO2-ice for cooling.:D LOLQuote:

You can make it when you sleep.;)
The R290 will thin the oil at low temperatures making oil return more sure and cool the compressor when it boils out in the suction header.Quote:

Man that is some sick evap you got there
I recond that weld is definitely going to be a good idea with R50
What sorta pressure you think you gonna see 400 +
is it possible to use stage three argon with boiling point -182 deg is this system
what sorta design did you use inside her?
Building systems badly is easy... LOLQuote:

i think the same one as fuggers avatarQuote:

i've seen those once
After I get the three stage dialed in I am going to use an autocascading three stage added to another system like this with argon and two other gasses to reach a stable -178C loaded :) I hope.... That is the goal at least for now... -150 will teach us what problems we are going to run into with materials aluminum is a good choice as it gets stronger with out becoming brittle"I hope" At least that is what theengineering data says...Pure copper will also be tried This is going to be destructively tested ...IOW we will try to blow it up, and when I get a video camera we will be pressure testing some parts to see where and how they fracture... This testing needs to be done and documented. We will have a lab set up in the near future, Once this happens developments will be coming at a faster pace... So many ideas and little time to test them all...Quote:

The block is th ealuminum one in fuggers avatar.
Pressure tested to 2000 psig for 48 hours with no deflection on a micrometer to 0.0005 inch (smallest I can measure) no signifcant drop in pressure over this time period.
Running pressure in the block will be 10 to 20 psi
Head pressure will be no more than 300psi
max working pressure for all components are 450psi with all components have a minum burst of 1500psi. Internally the compressors bypass at 500 to 600 psi. So after a pressure test of the welds to 1000 psi there is no chance that pressure will exceed safe values, there will be a 550 psi rupture disk in both the high pressure systems...
