Work in progress... TCI K2

I was leaning toward the BioStar mATX board, but this software now has me looking at the Asus F2A85-M PRO... ;)

The BioStar looks nice but their boards can be hit or miss at times, while Asus usually gets things right the 1st time.
That, and the fact that you've written profiles for this board has kinda sealed the deal for me!

BTW: Asus has the board up on their site now.

Well, I got some learning to do. There was a LOT over my head in that user guide.

Also, looks like you make my board choices quite limited.

Here is the FIRST public version of TCI K².
TCI K² V1.0

It is more than likely that there are some bugs.
If and when you do find them send me PM so I can fix them.

Work to be done: The next version should have more advanced DRAM receiver control features.. Such as data eye calibration and a "autotune" feature which calculates the "optimal" values for certain timings and re-calibrates them if necessary.

PS. Please RTFM prior using the SW ;)

Messed around a bit with the tool during the night have to say it absolutely rules, works fine with F2A85-M PRO by the way.

Are there any tweaks included in the stock profiles, or are they there just so the SW understands the particular mobo?
Your technical knowledge of BD/PD chips is obviously far above mine, so simple yes/no answers are fine... ;)

I have a 5800k and Asus F2A85-M PRO that will be here for the weekend (WooHoo!).
I'll probably need to get my feet wet a little before I try TCI_K2, but the level of "tweakness" your software offers looks very impressive!

The program does not automatically adjust any of the settings.
The profiles simply load correct parameters for the "additional" components such as external Pll and VRM controller.

I wish i had this instead of pscheck for AMD Day.... Damn i wish i had seen this.

Found a bug in Pll programming on Asus boards.

The resulting BCLK frequency passes 1023 ratio for (N) the software calculates the new M divider wrong.
The actual frequency will be set to anything between 0 & 1GHz ;)

Gigabyte boards do not have this issue since the M/N is digital.

Will fix it ASAP.
No harm really the computer might just crash.

I've been playing with this software a little tonight, so I thought I'd post a SS of the "General" info for my chip...

It's probably just because I'm not hardcore enough :p:, but I had a few problems setting some things.
When setting the multi's make sure you enter it with the "x". EX: 42 won't work, 42x will.
Same with CPU voltage settings, be sure to include the "v" and carry the number out to 5 decimal places.
EX: 1.375 (no), 1.375v (no), 1.37500v (YES)!

Also, be sure the 1st thing you do is go to menu #7 and disable ApmMaster and AMD TurboCore/CPB ("Disabled", not "Disable" :D).
It says this in the manual, but I missed it for some reason. :doh:
Is there anyway to turn these off in bios on the F2A85-M Pro?

Just thought these hints may help some people out when they 1st start using it...

This is obviously a very powerful utility!
A GUI, or little more intuitive interface would make it allot more user friendly though.

I can't get the program started. It crashes instantly. I re-installed windows and its still does so. Windows 8 fresh install, latest cataylst drivers.

Non-K and Vishera require no special tricks so you can use AOD instead.

It would require a full rewrite as without the GPU Trinity is a whole different chip.

Missing DPMs, dividers, voltage control, different external Pll outputs, etc.
No going to happen.

Version 1.1

Changes:

• Added a motherboard specific profile (ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6)
• Added Pll gearing advisor for internal FCH (A55/A75/A85) Pll*1
• Added DRAM Refresh Rate (tREF) reading and adjustment
• Extended UNB Vdd range up to 1.57500V on all SVI2 compliant VRM controllers*2
• Added VRM Status (diagnostic) menu for selected motherboards (PMBUS)*3
• Fixed divider calculation on internal FCH Pll (maximum precision and range allowed by hardware available now)
• Fixed N (M/N) ratio calculation issue on ICS477 ext. Pll
• Re-enabled full BApm control*4

*1 Due the fact that the internal Pll of the FCH is fairly inaccurate, I added a "gearing / frequency advisor" to help users to find the most accurate output frequency available. "Internal Pll Next Gear" shows the next possible BCLK frequency while the "Internal Pll Previous Gear" shows the previous (lower) frequency, if available. The new BCLK frequency is inserted as usual (in xxx.x or xxx,x format) and the programming values are exactly the same as shown in "Previous & Next Gear" lines. Do note that other frequencies than the ones displayed in "Previous & Next Gear" lines are NOT available. Inserting any other values will result undefined behavior. Also to keep everything syncronized properly, change the BCLK frequency in small steps. Some of the domains will get out of sync at some point regardless of the size of the adjustment steps. In this case increase the BCLK frequency a bit from the bios and try again. The adjustment range is ~100.0 - 141.4MHz (HW limitation with default configuration).

*2 Anything higher 1.47500V for the UNB can damage the APU permanently in normal operating temperatures. Parts with higher nominal leakage can be damaged with less than that so beware!

*3 VRM diagnostic info and Loop 1 (Core VRM) / Loop 2 (UNB VRM) temperature reading available on: ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6, Gigabyte F2A85X-UP4 & MSI FM2-A85XA-GD65.

*4 BApm + other power management features are FULLY disabled by a special test mode. When disabled there is basically no power management available, no limiters -> wide open throttle all the time. The APU WILL EXCEED the TDP when BApm is turned off. Domains critical to performance (NCLK) will be locked to maximum performance PState.

Available under: 7. Power & Thermal Management -> Command "BApm" -> Enabled or Disabled.

NOTE: Some versions of Catalyst display drivers & SMC firmware will re-enable BApm automatically.
