I have ha prob with my z77 ud5h. Have not much experience with this board. I pushed my cpu clock (2700k) too far. 5 Ghz was stable, 5,2 ghz now doesnīt boot os and i cannot enter bios stable. So now i canīt go back to 5 ghz.
Is there a way to boot with standart settings without clearing cmos ?
Other boards i had, automaticly started with save setting when oc fails. But now with this board it always boots with my to high 5,2 ghz setting.
Thx
if something acts weird like that you should reflash the BIOS, but first you don't want to reflash BIOS at 5.2ghz of course.
So do this:
goto the last page of the BIOS and hit "load optimized defaults" then press f10 and save and reboot.
Then put the new BIOS F6 on a USB flash rive formatted in FAT32 and then go into the BIOS and press f8, find the BIOS on the drive and flash it.
Then once it is done flashing it will ask you if you want to power down or reboot, press reboot.
Then go into the BIOS and go and do again "load optimized defaults" save and then reboot and then start messing around.
BTW about your drives not showing up, are you by chance using the Marvell ports instead of the Intel's ones? I think GSATA is for Marvell?
I just got New PSU today still had few boot loops. Ive since flashed to F6 seems much better. I then reset all my bios settings to 4.8GHz.
I also used Alt-F10 method to Backup MAIN bios to BACKUP Bios...all went fine i selected Reboot at the end..is this OK??
I didnt flick the on-board BIOS switch...Did i miss anything?
The boot loop i get now seems longer but it does recover and boot..will try lil extra juice.
Also just want to confirm do i need to increase IMC & VTT (i7 2600K) on this F6 bios...still no PLL option
I have 7 hard drives connected and 1 optical drive. The only ones that seem to be stable are the 2 Intel Sata3 ports. Ports 0 and 1.
I have a Windows RAID 1 array setup on the Intel Sata2 ports. Ports 4 and 5. That array seems to fail often. It has rebuilt 2 or 3 times a day in the past couple days.
So to directly answer your question. The optical drive that doesn't show up is on one of the Marvell Sata3 ports and the drive that keeps failing the array is on port 4 which is one of the Intel Sata3 ports.
Is F6 bios newer than F6h/F6i?
yea if you set to voltage then its 3 pin for all if you set to PWM its PWm for all. IMO just set voltage for all, as you can still use SMART controls, and the 4 pin fans all have the ability to work in 3 pin ways.
Yea BIOS F6 is the final BIOS for the F6_ BEtas, so if there is a F7A ort F7F or something, then that is later than F6, but if there is F7 then that is the final of the F7F for instace beta.
Can you describe what happens now? because I tried after F6I and F6H to make it loop like it did before with a 2600K and I couldn't get it to do it.
If the board loops like you think it does, and recovers while you are OCing, that isn't a boot loop that is OC recovery checking your OC for stability to make sure it can POST. It typically will occur when you are OCing where the board will seem like it it booting, but it will just reset itself to post code 15 maybe once or twice, and then it will finally boot all the way, that is GB's OC recovery mechanism.
You prob right Sin re GB's OC recovery i nudged up the voltage a lil and now Fingers crossed system is AAAA OK :0 im a happy bunny its taken me quite some time (cost of a extra PSU) Im stable im sure its F6 thats cured my issue.
board is bootin fine now. Before after 3 or 4 shutdowns id have startup issue. Now after F6 ive shutdown and started like 8 times with no issues. I might put up some bios screenies later Sin if u dont mind giv em a look over pls.
Kind regards
Irfy
Yea that is called Safe Mode when the board figures something is wrong with your OC, that is what the board is supposed to do. Without it we woudl have to clear the CMOS and lose all settings all the time. Sometimes however instead of 3 reboots it might do 2 and then boot up just fine if the OC is all good.
Good to hear it man, listen we can do one better than just take screen shots, if you goto the last menu where it says save profile, you can save your profile to a USB thumb drive, and send it to me and I can try it on my system!!! I can fix anything if I see anything that is bad and I can send ti back to you and you can just load it up! It is a new feature implemented with Z77 and BIOS F6I, i tested and you can transfer from one board to another as long as they are both Z77X-UD5H. But you should also do the screen shots as it is easier and other people can chime in.
Pretty cool huh?
Attachment 126107Attachment 126108Attachment 126109Attachment 126110Attachment 126111Attachment 126112Attachment 126113Attachment 126114Pls bear in mind i dont have a VGA card yet so maybe i need more juice. im also overclocking IGPU
your OCing the iGPU ????/ HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA GReat! :D
If you have stability issues change your IMC voltage to 1.095v.
Hey :)
Just about to start my build, does anyone know what the latest BIOS is for the GA-Z77X-UD5H ? on Tweaktown their is F6? but I have seen an F6k which fixes some usb keyboard issues?
yes F6 is the latest, if it is F6 or F7 then F6X, F6I, F6H, F6K are all before F6. F7X, F7I, F7H, and F7K would all also be before F7.
yea BTW you set all of the system fans in one SMART fan setting, so you control the CPU seperatly and then the system all together seperatly.
I will chime in here... I have both boards here in my posession. Im planning a writeup comparing both boards and will post it in the review section this weekend. Hopefully, it will help you make your decision. Both are boards are quite excellent though, Id say, between UD3 and UD5 its a matter of what you want out of the board. If you are gaming with it I'd say UD5 as it provides better "gaming features" with a headphone amp, x-fi mb, bluetooth + wifi etc. If you plan to bench exclusively, id say UD3 cuz it gets the job done with very utilitarian precision... its lean and mean :)
ivybridge testing will have to take place on monday for any questions or tests you guys want performed. sin0822 does an outstanding job already, but hey 2 heads are better than 1 right?
yea two heads are always better one than!
I have both boards as well, and I have to be honest, I think the UD5H is slightly better in terms of how it acts under LN2 in terms of not CBBing, but the UD3H is better in terms of restarting without a hard restart. THe UD5H can reboot and save setting and boot up without CBB, the UD3H triggers CBB more often, but it is possible to start it without a CBB, depends how you left windows. THe UD3H and the UD5H power delivery are pretty much equal, the UD3H uses some extreme high rated MOSFETs(like 58 and 90A ), double the rating of that of the UD5H';s fets, so power delivery is no issue. The OC however I cannot tell on which is higher, they are equally really high.
The audio on the UD5H is better, and the UD5H has more connectivity, and in my opinion has a better USB implementation on the backpanel, b/c on the UD3H you can only use two ports until you install drivers. I will release my UD3H review soon probably later today with Ivy Bridge comparison, but I don't run as many benchmarks as ZenEffect.
F6 seems to have resolved all the issues I was seeing.
UD5 also has PWM switching frequency options in the bios which UD3 lacks. Im having an issue right now... wont go into it as I suspect the OS is acting a bit off. Gotta re-load and re-test to see if it resolves it before making any real comments about what is going on. On UD5, I had the same behavior as UD3. I load OS from a USB drive, if its not in the "right" set of ports, it will drop the drive before installing windows making the install fail. UD5 also does not like my mouse, but then again... 99% of boards tested will not work with this mouse. I think the mouse firmware is broken somehow and a very select few boards ignore the error. CM Storm Inferno? yea piece of junk imho. it worked fine in all boards for 2 days then began exhibiting this behavior.
