Chinese boy sells kidney for iPad 2

would it benefit me to have 3 kidneys?

Well most of people dont need 2nd kidney, at least in wealthy countries (good hospitals, fresh water, healthy food etc..).
There are however some people that need that 2nd kidney but they are not in majority.

I would sell my kidney, but i would accept 20000$ not less or i would not sell it :), there is no diabetes or anything like that been in my family.

Are we sure BBC isn't getting trolled here? This sounds silly.

Then if you ever bruise your only remaining kidney in an accident you'll be wishing you could exchange that $20,000 for a kidney that doesn't require immune-suppression drugs. Keep your kidney regardless of the price.

If i happen to get accident, and if i loose hand or leg, paralyze below waist or something similar, i will kill my self soon as i get out of hospital, so i think kidney wont matter a chicken poo,
and dont think i would not go for it, i will since i have allready tried suecide (got unlucky) but result was 5months in hospital and after that rehabitation and full recovery, my life were bullcrap before that hospital perioid.

According to your signature, $20,000 shouldn't be considered any significant to you... Don't you need your 2nd kidney to keep your girlfriend/wife happy? :shrug: Or you are really strong and confident about it

you are wrong, second kidney is not a spare one. both of them are needed.

It can be needed but im not doctor so i cannot 100% positively tell is 2nd kidney needed or not.

I would understand if he had sold his kidney to cure something else with the money. I'm very certain that this is not uncommon in China, probably one of his friends did the same thing and yes this is a mental spreading illness, sad but it was his choice and his future looks bleak.

out of curiosity, anyone know what a kidney is worth?

From what I remember hearing, well into the XX,XXX digits for smaller organs, XXX,XXX for larger and more important organs like a heart. Can't be 100% on that though. So yeah, the kid definitely got ripped off. I've also heard organizations like the Yakuza will just dissect you and sell off every part of you, if you owe them enough money. Why bother beating it out of you when they can make a cool mil off your guts? Scary...
