I had a similar issue with old dominator ddr2 if you squeezed the fins together at the top of the ram the IC's would pop off, I'll see If i can find them.
Either way it didn't stop me from buying more corsair, certainly wasn't going to go back to reapers!

Well that RMA has gained Corsair another customer. My last Corsair product was old BH-5 RAM back in the day, I'll now be using them for my PSU instead of Antec and I'll definitely consider Corsair for DDR4 when the time comes :up:

Were the modules hot at the time? If so that could have caused the solder to warm up?
maybe try the oven trick if all else fails.
Corsair customer service has always kept me happy. It can be a pretty thankless job. After all, very few customers USE customer service in a good mood, right? We call when we've had a failure. But the end result is usually a new part headed our way in a fashion that will minimize down-time.

To be fair here I have had the same thing happen to me just by moving sticks to different sockets. Yes they were bran new sets.
On the ends the sheet metal they use for this wrap around and have a kind of like clip. One tag has a hole and the other tag has a bump and they should lock together, but I see these not closing all the way on many kits I have used.
I was surprised also that the glue did not stick very good. It's only happened one time to me so It's no big deal tho for the price of the kits things happen.
Little late to the party (not the only one), but yeah, it would take a lot of force on the heatspreaders to pull off an IC with it. None the less, if a lot of force wasn't being put on it, Corsair seems to have taken card of the issue be it customer fault or not, there are a ton of companies out there (not just RAM ones) that do not own up to their mistakes or issues with their products.
i usually used a 5 paper clamps to cover the whole stick of ram and bake it. the adhesive sorta softens while clamping it. so far all my sticks have good mounted heatsinks on them. i do this so i don't complain lol.
in our company our motto is "be proactive" i practice it too in our endeavours(killing rams? lol)
Get the XSPC Universal Memory water cooling set...you get 3/16'' thick aluminum heatspreaders for two sticks, a copper block, and 0.5mm thick heat transfer pads....all for $60. It is unbelievably super high quality for cheap...I was very impressed. Just had to type something out with my new Corsair K70 Cherry mechanical keyboard........I wouldn't say their keyboards are cheap, I've never seen an aluminum keyboard like this and every key is back lit with a red led....nice!
