I thought you could use only two or four stick's of ram, not three.
I don't know it all, so please reframe from bashing me.
nh you are correct for dual channel only 2 or 4 sticks, but its a KIT i am using for x58 as well. Its triple channnel yes so ill give it a shot with all three sticks in and see what teh difference is.
would touchbios come to any gigabyte P67 series?
i think if you check the threads, they aleardy modded it too.
Well, I got my new board in this morning.
With my new RAM.
now you gotta get it together and OC!
just got done eating pizza.
now time to build. :D
building is always a joy! take your time and be patient!
ok, I got it all hook up but, now I cannot get my ram to 2133mhz, it will not boot.
I have to settle for 1600. what am I doing wrong?
2133 mhz is completely out of specification and YMMV on whether it will work or not. SB was designed for 1333 mhz RAM and just using 1600 is overclocking the IMC itself, although 1600 mhz works without problems with the correct XMP profiles.
Till now I haven't seen one SB CPU where 2133 doesn't work out... this would be my first I've seen. think I've tested up to 40 2600K CPUs, all booted with 2133Mhz...
Have you tried each dimm seperately ? are you using the outer slots ? Set Vdimm correctly ? Check if some timings alike TRFC aren't too tight set by the bios ( set at 110 or such to start with)
It's best you take soem screenies of the ram and voltages bios screens
Since X58 Gene II I haven't touched an XMP profile again... if you know what the stick are rated for , in his case 2133 CL9-11-9-28 2T 1.65Vdimm (and they are made for SB), how hard is it to set or verify that ? Upping VCIO and co on SB is mostly not even required for daily ops...
I'm booting constantly between Corsair Dominators 1600C8, GTX 2 Hypers at 2133CL7-7-7-21 and Gskill FLares at 2133 Cl6-9-6. I haven't touched VCIO or any voltage besides the Freq multiplier and the main timings... SB is so flexible and therefore boring)... and this on 6 different mobos...
I think Rajinder referred more to rams that aren't made for SB, that can cause issues to run at their rated speeds... which is absolutely not the case here...
If you could only buy the rams on the QVL list then some companies would go broke...
when I install the board, then ram. The BIOS automatically set my ram to 1600, not the rated 2133.
Is there like a process I need to follow in order to achieve the 2133.
no just set 21.33 divider and increase the qpi/vtt voltage to like 1.15 or something, sometimes only a tiny bump in wpi/vtt is needed. i tried 213 on my Z68X-UD7 no problems here.
