I have 100+ RETAIL GAMES and have no problem patching them,but I don't install all games @ the same time anyway.

The problem is time & effort.

Well let us think about this for a second. A large customer market combined with more reasonable assumptions of computing hardware and a wiliness to produce games that customers want.

Sounds like a sound business to me.
