That is quite interesting.
Good job on making it work, when it seems like no one else has been able to.
Great score too.

No friend...
This PCI ex is like garbage...cheap and not good enough...
You have to look for a very good well done Extender...cause this cheap products will disappoint you for sure...
Need to be made from the high quality components...and loof for > 8"
Mine is Adexelec and works fine here...
Adexelec don t sell directly...you have to ask to make one custom for you...
Its Expensive (here about £200 cause there are lots of fees and DHL shipping is expensive).
One more thing...
I don t know my result at same system benching directly on the motherboard (normal way)...
Is possible to get beter results (or no....i don t know)...
But...i think is a funny way to bench
Yea that was the only type i could find, it looked too crappy to buy, , i might look into making one then or asking them to make me one.
Thanks!
That's an awesome idea :D
Cool
I like this one
Great work
Interesting:D
so cooll mate.....like this!!
I have a friend that bought a cheap one and it did not work at all.
you could use this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/PCI-E-express-16...item4aa75ab6b5
shiny so who knows....doesnt look like the cheaper ones at least
ok where's shammy bringin' us a new "RoG [Expandable]" :D 200 pounds sounds crazy for some well done wires - but seems like here it does make sense to spend a bit more ;)
Today i benched again with Extender...but is not well as yesterday...
I got 20 liters LN2...then did try modern SO (Vista /Seven)...
I did try 3DM05 to Vista and AM3 to W7
I am not sure, but i think i could get a lit bit more points benching at normal way...
That s the results:
W7 - AM3
Increasing VGA clocks to 1450...1460 (RAM 1300~1320 Mhz)...system sucks and get down the scores...
Best i got with about 1431 Mhz VGA (PCI Ex at 118)

Vista 3DM05 sucks at GTX 580...i don t know why...but is possible 05 is better to use the old GTX480 to better scores (not sure)...
Can't go more than 1238 Mhz...and increase the RAM decrease the scores...
I know CPU score is very important...and i got 6355 Mgz but i don t know why FPS get down (something like lowbug...but i don t know why...my card have no lowbug and usually bench about -170C)

Need to test with no Extender to know...but i think the Extender can make me lose a lit bit of points...
Today i have lots of issues...possible cause the modern operacional system (W7 an Vista).
A diferent behavior to bench...and sometimes performance get down in the middle of benchmark...
I know it happens and its normal to extreme overclockers...so i need to test many more times, settings, benchs to know how good is the Extender to scores...
Only thing i know its the system have a very well behavior benching 06 at XP yesterday..
Update you later
Best regards
Really interesting info there about your sessions. Hope you can find out more about the scores and difference between using that extender and the regular motherboard slot.
Cool pictures, first time I've seen the extender in action and scores.
Its a good option since u can use better the space that it brings to the mobo as for the better acessibility to coll the mobo itself.
Im very interresting in this thread and looking forward for comparison scores.
