Remember one thing guys, the chips are locked to certain number of SIMDs for a a reason ;). If you encounter instability or artifacting you should revert back to default bios or clock down.
More crysis benchmarks
6970 flash at stock:

6950 at 920/1450 doesn't even touch it:

I just note that gpu-z shows me 1600 shaders vs yours at 1536.
no idea why though.
Old GPU-z?
@Oztopher:
so you did flash your hd6950 with the asus6970 bios and than did a run with crysis before and after? and the RAM of your hd6950 (stock @1250) can stand the high clocks of 1375mhz (stock of hf6970) without artifacts and voltage increases? what do the temp sensors say when you run with hd6970 bios instead of 6950 while crysis?
thanks
^must have a bad card :( Seems some can handle it and some carnt. Mine just powered through a couple of BFBC2 matches
What happens with the texture units? Do they go from 88 to 96?
I want do this with my sapphire 6950 is it worth it?
An extra 100 point is 3D mark 11 doesn't seem exciting enough
what about real game performance?
Currently running 900/1350
They do, and go for it. Report back.
Which one is for flash 6970 ? (the Flashable switch BIOS)
1 or 2 ?
@Gaul: i think you are wrong with your purple markings: no 1 is the position nearer to the bracket, but you labelled it in the pic as No 2, just have a look on the metal backplate above the switch of the card: its written there, and do not forget to -unlockrom in DOS mode before trying to flash new bios to position no 1.
greets
Maybe this just stems from too high Core/ Memclock ?
I mean 1375 is a huge overclock from 1250 on the memory...
Ok run this again, flashed cards one and one, my top one articfacts bad, the other one seems to work.
saw some glitches in the benches I did run.
but seems ok.
Yep Gaul, the markings are the other way around. Just follow the instructions from the guru3d link :) should work fine. If anyone else has their card not recognised after flash, wait for windows to install its drivers, then disable the card in device manager, renable it and restart when prompted. Worked fine for me after that.
Max overclock with stock volt 1.175v:

It's only just hit me, i bought a £275 card for £220 :D ... fingers crossed nothing bad happens or anything...
