Did you see James May's Lego house?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrLkHn_RlgY
:D
I think most ppl who build pc's or build anything for that matter, started with Lego.
I had boxes of it as a kid, all the spaceship stuff, like this

then it all went as a teen, then in my 30s when i can actually afford the good stuff i got hooked again! :D technic is great, but id love to try out the mindstorms stuff
could make an interesting project
LEGO technic/mindstorms WC pc :D

Hey mate.
Good job so far. Such a big case and every rad is external? Thats all good:up:
If you're going that route then maybe the following idea may work for you...
If you're looking to mount a second 560 then why not mount them side by side at the front of the case in a sideways position. So if you're looking at the case from the side, you'd be looking at the front of the rad with the other directly behind it. Make sense..? Could look pretty cool but will require some custom rad mounts to be made. I considered this myself at one time but didn't want to lose Lian Li's nice front cover. You've got a lot of rads bolted to that thing, is it really necessary? Otherwise, keep up the good work, mate. Sorry to plant such a crazy idea in your head.:D
-
in the same post you tell me i have too many rads, but that i should mount another 560  :ROTF:
i like your style!
i originally wanted to keep the front cover, it is a sexy bit of alu.
i like the look of the rad holders that hold a rad from the side, and your right it would fit.
but how would you face them?
would they suck fresh air from outside and blow it at each other?
or both suck fresh from middle blowing out???
yeah i have been thinking of this idea since u mentioned it...bastard!
of course its not neccesary!!! its WC! :D
-
Oh, dont get me wrong, its completely unnecessary but that's why its called Xtreme Systems.:D
So if you're looking at the case from the front all you'll be looking at is two 560's side-on, blowing air from front (1st rad/front of case) to back (2nd rad/back of case).
You could have additional 4x140 fans joining the two rads. It would be quite the monster. I'm only saying this as you're looking to get a second 560 and it would give you a cleaner look if you concentrated the rads in one particular area. Otherwise it stops looking like an X2000. Just an idea, see how you go.
-
i am thinking of getting a 2nd pump, not rad.
got plenty of rads! :D
i like the idea though, would look BIG! :)
it stopped looking like a x2000 a looong time ago
Interceptor ftw! :D

can't get over how big this looks now with the rads mounted...
it reminds me of a bodybuilder, the case is the torso and the rads are the arms... :D
sony camera battery is dead  (have i mentioned, dont EVER buy crappy non-standard sony products!)
so heres a quick phone pic of my rig next to my dog for scale,
his names Coffee (don't ask!) and hes a full grown German Shepard...
-
is that a lazy suzan under your case? :lol2:
This build is phat
The 2nd pump sounds like a good idea, Is that Aqua res in front of pump the nickel plated brass model?
+1 on the sideways mounting of the rads, 560 rad stands are a good idea but custom would be nicer ;)
-
yeah susans a lazy biatch so i stuck her under my pc..
well spotted! i got a few diff sizes of them from a $2 shop, best find ever, really handy for working on pcs.
I can sit at my desk and look at pc, or lie down on couch and easily turn it to face me. :)
case is very heavy now and hard to turn without it.
yeah nickel plated brass res, weighs a ton, well 1.4kg, but feels like a ton!
i just saw the white delrin model came out recently, i like it for the lighting options, but this nickel res is brilliant, ALMOST as nice as my old reserator! :D
those rad stands look good, but i agree custom mods are always better.

I planned to do a lighting test and decide on res placement tonight,
BUT after Alexandros comments about LEGO, i stuck my head in the toyshop today and found a new (to me) technic model 8049
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MBEVlUMi9k...0091009+1b.png
it's in the "farming" range that i haven't seen available in Oz before.
and it has "pneumatic" actuators!!
ive bashed together the "A" version, and about to tear it down and do the "B" which looks better imho.
http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/A...00-xx-33-2.jpg
the pneumatics will combine nicely with the parts in my 8292
http://www.mygoodies.co.za/catalog/i...cker_built.jpg
& 8294
http://www.mygoodies.co.za/catalog/i...ator_built.jpg
to make some cool moving contraptions..
might even use it in my build to position and MOVE lights :D
edit: just attached these pics of a pc i sent across oz here, so i could link them to another thread :)

ok back OT
finally got around to doing a final lighting test.
