No I tweak via bios, tweaking in windows is asking for a trashed OS, tweaking in bios and then running memtest before booting saves OS's from getting trashed, cpu twkr is just to show i'm not slacking stuff to get artificial speed :up:

These ripjaws are an interesting kit, as I work in the IT industry and use dedicated machines for virtualized server testing, i can really see a great use for these... 4GB sticks are have a bit of performance behind them and i don't have to trade in my left arm in exchange for..

Just to start with i took a look at what these are capable of at some stock settings with some low voltages as the low voltage kits seem to be popular with systems builders.. stock settings are no problems at a low1.4v

BANDWIDTH COMPARSON @ STABLE SETTINGS

Now it is often looked upon badly at loosening off TRCD much past 8/9 but with a kit like this I think clocks like 9-10-9-24 makes sense. This kit is going to benefit from some extra bandwidth and most real world applications only care about bandwidth and not tight primaries or subs. Lets look at some bandwidth comparison with this kit. This kit is P55 and AMD targeted, so on the Lynnfield side of things it would be nice if we could raise out BCLK a bit at 2:10 to get that uncore up a fraction.

RECOMMENDED STABLE SETTINGS

This is the settings I like on the Intel platform, I would run this in my 24/7 rig.

2000 9-10-9-24 2T 1.5 vdimm, You might find some kits will do 2050 or 2100 easily. My kit will LINX also at 2050 but then I need to use higher VTT, so I will choose 2000 9-10-9-24.

Even after LinX for an hour with these sticks at 1.6 volts they don't get much above 30 degrees celcius in a room of 23 degrees celcius.

It is worth noting this kit performs much better 2T, the bandwidth loss is minimal but the gains in MHz are high. Once going past about 900 MHz dropping from 1T to 2T will really let these sticks open up and show what they are made of.

Finally got my G.SKILL Trident (3x4GB) 1600MHz 7-8-7-24-2N 1.65V (F3-12800CL7T-12GBTDD), it's not exactly the same as these 2x4GB kit.

Just a few quick tests on UD7 to get a feeling of it before putting it on SR-2.

It is running pretty smooth at rated speed with 1N on UD7. Not too bad a for a 3x4GB kit :)

Just got those G.SKILL Trident (3x4GB) 1600MHz 7-8-7-24-2N 1.65V (F3-12800CL7T-12GBTDD) on CPU#1, and used my good old 3x2GB Corsair XMS3 1600 7-7-7-20 on CPU#0 on SR-2.
I didn't try to optimize it, because system is tied to November-challenge. Just booted up with these settings and it passed HyperPI32M ;)
I'm really happy with this setting for now, and it is playing really nice on SR-2, better than on UD7 (I didn't test throughly on UD7 tho).

18GB @1600Mhz 7-8-7-24 1T, 1.65v - HyperPi32M stable :)

Ok so I put a little more time in on these sticks.

Found the sweet spot for higher than 1800mhz clocks even without the need for thuban however still not really seeing any point of running them much above 1700 tight on AMD.

First lets look at everest comparisons.

I tried what PRO did with intel and applied it to AMD. As you can see we take a preety significant hit here using 2T command rate on AMD.

Now 963 8-9-8 is acchieved by lowering from 90ns to 110ns on these sticks, versus command rate on intel.

As we can see here it is actually performance related beneficial since at 90ns we can only do 1800 which ends up being slower performance wise in 32m even though everest shows that they trade blows 32m paints the real picture being over 10 secs slower at comparable clocks.

After extensive testing however I find no need or benefit on AMD as of yet to running high and loose other than maybe it gives you a more optimal cpu/nb configuration.

Also might add slacking to 110ns when running Cl7 on AMD offers no gains clock wise over 90ns.
