Better than PSU, someone advised me I should use one for testing reviews, saved up that $30 for one and look what it got me......Back to square 1.
Have to take my word 2x 5970 on ln2 is harsh i guess :P
Almost ready to go full throttle.
Looping vantage now and still the psu has not faltered.
heh interesting ... I guess if a company would let me use 2 5970's I may kill mine as well.
dont think the smaller cards i review will kill anything lol
the 5970's good OC'ers on LN2?
Nah one has a coldbug at 10C, I can cold bug it in 3d03 with an AC unit blowing on it.
1000 core on air brings the heat wattage wise though, i know the sytem pulls close to 1200 maxxed cards and cpu at 6 gig so o well give it a go in a few, almost done pretesting.
I'll be sure to hook the dead killawatt up for livestream though just so I have a cover story ;)
haha very nice ... can't wait for the test results :)
this psu is amazing i guess
Hey mate! Nice pictures!!!
If possible, I need to know the rough length of the 24pin cable, 8pin and 6+2pin PCI-e cables for sleeving purposes
Yah I was preety impressed, it ran flawless with X6 thuban cpu at 6150-6300 and 2x 5970 at 1000/1250 solo with no daisy chained PSU in loop :)
It was also nice not to have the 24 pin connector getting extremely hot as it does with another 1200 watter i have ;)
I will get you measurements as soon as i find my measuring tape :)
Chew: Does your AX1200 emit a high pitched whine while under extreme load?
No but it does make alot of clicking noises namely when you power switch on or shut down system.
I also found it isn't very fond of being daisy chained with another PSU other than that mine has had no issues and continues to run like a champ.
Seeing as my killawatt is dead i ran some vantage on ln2 with both the corsair and a pc p&C 1200 turbo with the fluke plugged in.
12v rail off load read 12.12 on my corsair, 12.11 loaded in vantage no daisy chaining same when daisy chained. Daisy chained issue was mainly booting, and most likely due to fact that second psu was just on all the time on gpu's, etc i didn't use my 24 pin adapter that triggers second PSU when psu 1 is turned on.
12v on pc p&c 1200 read like 12.21 and i saw fluctuations all the way down to 12.10 loaded in vantage daisy chained or not.
All the same length it seems.

Also I might note. I ran a sort of hotbox test by accident :ROTF: on a system (actually the one partialy seen in pic) doing a ram review, system ran well over 5 hours in prime 95 with the PSU not getting any circulation AKA passive, ETC some idiot placed it with the fan side against the wall ( idiot being me ).
Not only did it pass prime the PSU seems no worse for the wear, granted it was not pulling full load but you get the idea ;)
System consisted of a 860ES at 3800cpu/3600uncore, 4x2 gig ram an ssd and a 5970 which runs at full volts vgpu and vddr 24/7 due to low power state issues it has.

Hire Martin to do your with the MDPC sleeving--should work out to about the same price.
