Sounds like a right pain there. Hopefully you'll be able to cope, but A is a very important letter
Can't even spell our names without it. :(
Have downloaded many apps from Market too, some are useful but most just bull:banana::banana::banana::banana: sounds and wallpapers etc. Seems the phone has most of the functionality already that i need.
Battery life is a real problem, i had to charge it fully twice yesterday :(
Not a fan of the alarm function, it sets the tone back to default each time i set a new alarm, and snooze is not active by default.
Battery life seems poor as I am finding out too, turn off wifi to improve :( or plug in for game/video.
I bought a Vibrant for my wife on Friday. So far she likes it a lot. She upgraded from a old Nokia.....big upgrade!
As accessories are a bit hard to come by for now for the Vibrant T959 I gots some off of eBay... will let you know how I like them, as purchasing any accessories at brick and mortar stores such as Best Buy is completely insane even when you are desperate - Just too big of a markup to justify getting accessories there.
my accessories purchased so far:
2X LCD Screen Protector(from US vendor)
BLACK SOFT RUBBER SKIN CASE
BLACK HARD SKIN CASE
I really want to look into getting this device for myself or some members in my family. But I'm strictly the no-contract type for now.
Try using juice defender. Will improve your battery by leaps and bounds.
More info Mav?
Now that i've been using it a week, im finding it a bit troublesome :(
When new, the phone was performing great and very fast and snappy.
After installing a bunch of apps (utilities/comms/visual) it has really taken a performance hit, to the point where many times it does not respond to inputs and takes a long time to respond once registered.
Ive started rolling back all my installs that ive found useless, so am now just running JuiceDefender/Plotter, Advanced Task Killer, and standard comms apps, but its still terrible
any idea when Tegra 2 phones gonna hit the market?
I read good things about Tegra 2.
Cyanogen Mod 6 will be out for these phones soon. I think that anyone that wants to dump the phone should wait until they get to try out CM6 or Froyo first.
Does it have a forward facing camera like the EVO and Iphone 4?
Just installed Froyo on my milestone and its a bit faster than before. I am sure it will be great on the galaxy. Juice defender is great for when you want the battery to last. Another great app is advanced task killer. So using both of these together can help get better battery and performance. Also try over clocking it a bit to make it faster. Dont keep un needed apps, as that just slows down everything.
Wait until FroYo. It rocks!
2.1= 75MB of memory free
2.2= 200MB of memory free :)
It seems most of my problems were resolved following an update to Advanced Task Killer.
Still has its poor moments though.
How to overclock it?
How to install these other OS?
Anyone tried the leaked 2.2 froyo for it yet?

XDA would be the best place to answer these questions, but on the milestone, we have to get a flashing software, which is from Moto (there mut be something similar for your phone) and can be downloaded and then flash in the new file, which is in an .sbf format. thats about all you need to do. You can use appbrain to backup your apps before flashing. I also suggest you to use GOT for backing up your full phone before flashing. This can be done with the update.zip method.
GOT? difficult thing to google for
http://groupoften.wordpress.com/
You download v.1a, and .1c
Put the MotoFrenzy folder ( ie unzipped content of .1a ) in /sdcard/nandroid/adbrecovery
Put the MotoFrenzy-v0.1c-update-nosign ( ie content in .1c ) in /sdcard/OpenRecovery/updates
You'll have to use Skrilaz_Cz's Open Recovery, but I use GOT's OpenRecovery.
Start up the OpenRecovery by going to the recovery menu on startup of the phone. I dont know hw u reach this menu in the galaxy, but in the milestone, its camera button plus the on button and then a little bit more. Once there choose update.zip. let it finish. go to Nandroid Backup, backup your current stuff. Choose full backup.
Then restore Backup from MotoFrenzy ( it'll show up )
Then go to Misc and Apply Updates and select the nosign update.
Reboot.
You haz Froyo.
