Big kudos goes out to GIGABYTE, Dinos22 and Movieman!
Let's all keep this generous donation in mind when shopping for new equipment!
I also have an older X58-UD3R that I'm quite fond of, and started the build on the X58A-UD3R last night. This will be a brand new i7-930 build for the grid!
Here are some of the parts (the complete parts picture is trapped on my phone right now):
Build in progress Capt'n!! Thank you Gigabyte and Dinos22!!

Pretty awesome of Gigabyte. Would love to see some other companies step up as well.
I think that will happen in time.
The key isin getting them to understand that the donation they make is used to benefit us all.
Then the factor of what they donate is magnified many times.
Just in this case the six boards brought 6 systems into the team.
Those six systems will do a hell of a lot of work every day.
It's hard for me to say how much I appreciate what Gigabyte has done here.
Very nice of them!
WUT
WUT WUT WUT
Things like this actually happen? People give free stuff to help do good stuff?
This is an Excellent gesture by MovieMan, Dinos22 and especially Gigabyte ...... it make me very proud that 3 of my 4 Crunchers are Gigabyte boards with the only exception being my SR-2
congrats to the winners! nice gestsure from Gigabyte too
Thanks very much to Gigabyte and Dinos22.
And congrats to all the winners.
Here is a shot of the rig up and running. It will be going on a tech station shortly. I just wanted to make sure everything was going to play nice. Currently have a 920 at 3150 with 1.2 Vcore set in bios. This the second Gigabyte mobo that I have had, so I have some learning to do.

My experience with Gigabye has been positive, if limited. Robust boards (the one I had was second hand, full of rain, hay and manure before I cleaned it up and it ran for another 2 years at 100% 24/7)
I will give it a try and see what I can do.
and to those who got one,if they hadnt tried i7 yet ,what a great motivator to go out and buy a new i7-930:up:
and then fire them up and add 8 more threads to the fight multiplied by six of course:D
and then if they go and get a gulftown then its even better:up:
again thanks for the great off hand comment that brought about this awesome donation dave:up:
Wow, that's awesome! Grats!
Awesome work Dinos and MM!
Sincere thanks to Gigabyte for supporting the cause.
You have moved to the top of my perpetual shopping list.
I must have missed this contest too. Oh well, maybe next time. Anyway, congrats to the winners, we know they will be put to good use. Now if we can just grab 2nd place that would be sweet.
the chokes underneath the board have one ground and one vcore point...........its best to find a vcore point right under the CPU socket but this is close enough
:bows:
I'm going by what cpuz reports for vcore and VTT stability testing with prime95. Crunching load temps are up slightly on my previous build with the only different hardware being the new board, but hey you are probably right....
All I know is 1.2 vcore and 1.34v vtt + LLC set to mode 1 = stable crunching on my X58A @ 3.8ghz :D
Got it running, OS installed. It's in the garage at the new house, won't have internet access for a couple weeks. Got a couple of new hard-drives, will get those running soon. This board is capable of up to 3 video cards (xfire or sli); I have a second gtx280, will get that watercooled and added into the loop. That will prevent me from using my SB pci x-fi card, but the onboard audio sounds great, I can't tell the difference. No noticeable difference in games for me...
I really like the bios. It's v2.0 board, don't know the bios rev offhand, but it has excellent system stat summary pages and many cpu & dram tweaking options. Just getting familiar with it; excellent bios & board so far. Really enjoying it. Looking forward to cranking out some WCG work-units 24/7.
