So, what are the chances of Fermi revisions coming out by the end of the year? 5%? 20%? Or is the joint in my hand just too good to be true?

i bealeve that they would be fine @512 . my 480 has been folding for like 8 hours now running at 100% and the temp is 79 and the pcb temp is only 60 not to mention i have it OC'ed a good bit for stock cooling. i think it would be ok, i am just wondering if or when some one will come out with a bios that will unlock it : )
running well at 480 has nothing to do with running at 512
I don't want to argue, but comparing 470 to 480 there is not much difference in heat output, 5 degrees max, right?
OK, not linear when going 480 to 512? Then multiply that difference with 2-3. Maybe 5 times? I'm ready for that. :D
BTW, I'm not saying my additional 32 cores will be operational, but IMO it's worth a try.

GF104 on the 12th...
"A "little" quicker, A "little" cooler, A "little" easier to make". Well with the larger exhaust ports that will account for the little cooler claim, a little quicker is the increase of 40MHz and the quieter is easily done by a fan that has less restriction because of the larger exhaust ports! I know any GTX 480 can overclock 40MHz without even touching the Vcore voltage, what a load of crap!

it pretty obvious a refresh is coming, now when is the question. (BTW it is still June)
From the various users and techs I have chatted with regarding the 480, it's not necessarily a safe bet folding on one with a stock cooler. On a good WC setup yes, but 24/7 folding on a 480 with stock cooler can lead to increasingly hotter temps. Your risk if you want to, just make sure you have one with a lifetime warranty from a reliable manufacturer that honors it without a fuss.
Interesting that they talked about the photo this way:
"It is unknown when and where the photo was made."
When the photo was "MADE"? Not taken, "made". Hmmm, some clever use of Photoshop maybe, esp since Fudzilla is referenced in the article.
Buying 480 is - let’s say diplomatically - eccentric. No matter will or not there be 485. ATI 5 series are just much better product.
i do not understand how an ATI 5 series card would be so much better. sence my board only supports SLI could you let me know what single ATI card is going to be faster for my board than 2 x 480's or 3 x 480's i would surly get that card
the 5800 series can't even handle basic DX11 features, the thing they tried to advertise so hard.
Huh... ?
you posted before i hit enter i was about to ask for someone to explain to me how to get my board to do crossfire
And if you want to fold?
