MrIcee, what has been your best score w/ the stock limited voltage of 2.85v. I'm topping out @ 193 @ max timings myself w/ my ram (in sig). I shall order voltage mod parts right now :) My ram LOVES 3.2v. Heh
And is this about where I should be at 193?

I would say that looks about right. At 200Mhz with all timings maxed you're looking at about 3080-3090MB/s on the ALU. To be honest...I haven't used stock voltage in so long I couldn't tell you...but I will soon. This Corsair would not function at less than 3.1v at 216Mhz+ max timings 2T command. What I did was get into Windows at that FSB...then slowly reduce my mem VR until errors start popping up on the screen...thats the low voltage limit..and how I determine it at any give speed. Keeping it stable for benching is another matter..and why I had to run 3.25v at 216Mhz to successfully complete 3DMark at what I believe to be the highest AMD 3DMark FSB benching Mhz. 217 is next:)

Here ya go my friends...my first bench of 3DMark at 216Mhz FSB
15,050 :toast: Prolly should be in the team section but I'm posting it here for Sys..I'm not done yet as I'll keep attempting to best that score...not too shabby at 2055Mhz(or for a 1700+XP):)
Also...heres the next step up for the OCZ ram 222 Mhz

Absolutely will give you a MAJOR boost in scores. Running 1T command will also give Car and Lobby another big boost in FPS. You may need to mod the board and increase your volts to sustain those timings on the Sammy:)Quote:

Excellent job Sys...nice to see you having success. If you take your time, learn the setup curve and play with the bios...these Abits really cook in the benches. And this coming from a guy who stood back and gave the 8K3A+ a try and fair shot...they are a great board but just don't bench like the KX7 is capable of. If you create another benching partition and put Win2000,DX 8.1, 4.37 4 in 1's and the 29.40 drivers on it....should pick you up 350 points over your best XP setup. When OPP converted me I saw 400 points in 3DMark over my best Win98 setup:)

great work mricee,i really appreciate the detail u go into when explaining the way u o/c.im in the market for a new hard drive and i was wondering what u use or recomend that handles such a high fsb?ive noticed the seagate ata100 40gig are pretty cheap where i live but will they handle high fsb?i think my hd is the only thing holding me back,it craps out at 186 fsb.i would be happy with 200fsb.thanks.

Thanks for all the info! And you're right. I did notice that the bios has ALOT more features to play with so I gotta get used to what each one does like I know have memorized the 8k3a+ and what works and what doesn't. But in any case, I'm very pleased!

My WD drives have never failed me ;) I'm running an 80GB for windows and I don't believe it's ever held me back.

As Sys..I am using 2 WD Caviar 7200Rpm Hard drives..a 20 gig benching drive and a 40 gig storage and day to day system drive. It is very important on the KX7 to run off the Highpoint Raid controller if you are overclocking...in this fashion, plugging into it with your HD's will function as a standard IDE controller. It allows your hard drives to hang in there alot longer at Xtreme FSB speeds. If you have a standard KX7 without Raid..I'd recommend one of Promises add in PCI Ide controller cards....as they are designed to function flawless on up to a 66Mhz PCI bus.

i am running my current hd out of the highpoint controller because i did read somewhere it helps achieve a higher oc if your hard drive is the limiting factor.WD it is then,they are alot more expensive here but........... u cant beat quality.thanks guys:toast:
Thats what I thought too but Im running my new WD 80gb SE on the standard controller at 191fsb without probs, and the bootup time is SO much faster after turning the raid off. I think the non raid KX7 (or maybe it was the KR7) has hdd problems above 165fsb but this raid one seems to be ok on the normal ide controller.Quote:

Yeah I've run this HD at blistering high speeds w/o probs... 220+mhz fsb w/o probs. Memory is what holds be back.Quote:

least u can get to 220, after 3 crucial 2100, 3 corsair 2400, 2 kingmax 2700 and 2 samsung DTL 2700, I'm yet to hit 200fsb at any timings on this KX7 let alone 220 :banana: :banana:

Unfortunately...the Crucial and Kingmax take , or on my system, took very high voltage to achieve 200Mhz...the Crucial at cas 2.5 and all timings relaxed, and the Kingmax the same except cas 2. But..on my KR7A it took 3.4v to sustain those speeds.
It wasn't until I aquired the CTL Sammy PC2700 that I was able to reduce to 3.22v, but bear in mind that voltage is necessary to bench 3DMark stabily without kick backs or errors...not necessarily needed for normal everday things..or Sandra benchmarks etc.
Even this new ram with Winbond chips needs 3.25v at the speeds I'm running it, to bench 3Dmark stabily. I can't wait to see the day we get some of those Sammy chips or similar on the Ti4600's @ 2.8ns for our system DDR...that will be the ticket for lower voltage high DDR overclocks:)

so whats a SAFE voltage for 24/7 running ram cos thats all im interested in, for games n stuff. Never been over 3v, I thought this 2.96 was dodgy but im not going any lower.
