Thanks CobraXP, Your link works great
Anything to help out the community. Thats what we are all here for.
Thanks for the continued support and congratulations again on desiging such a great board at a great value.
I hope you will consider adding support for the 930 when the time comes (for those who accidentally fry their 920 and are looking for a low-cost replacement).
Lord Trident big thx, g32 very stable for me
Still testing. More stable with uncore > memory speed. May be worth you trying this one Saaya....
Hey Guys. I tried the G32 bios. Good stuff. Only thing i'm noticing is the board is over volting my vcore. I set vcore to +90mv in Bios and under cpu-z its showing volts at 1.44v. That's a hell of an over volt.
Anyone else noticing wierd vcore overvolts?
Update:
Nvm. It was my fault. Had vdroop enabled.
G32 bios does not work well. Windows keeps crashing. P09 bios works well on the same settings.
Here is what I have:
This bios is actually pretty good, however, a few things
1) I cannot boot to anything after flashing or resetting the bios....unless...I load optimized defaults first.
2) Memory timings now work for me. (w00t)
3) Now when I overclock the memory too far, it tells me in windows (right click computer> properties) that I have 6gb installed but 2 or 4gb is use able.
to lysyn123 you need to give more information then say it does not work
like your whole setup and what setting you have as a lot change between p09 and g32
to the_mup I did say some people would have to setup optimized defaults first as you would still get A1 bug
Oh, must have missed that.
Either way, its not a big deal...tis a good bios.
Nice results dude :). Good low voltage overclock there.
PCIE @ 102mhz may let you get to 220bclk if you fancy trying it.
Damn good OC.
Im having issues now for some reason. Think my chip is a bum lol. I got the need to use optimized settings first ect...no biggie. Some reason im getting secondary processor bsod's when running prime with my OC.
I got a D0 chip...possible bad batch...its a Batch# 39xxx...got vcore at 1.37v...vtt is at +100mv now...was at +80mv with +90mv core. Vdroop disabled, with HTT disabled. Using Gskill tridents with 6-7-6-20 timings at 1604mhz. Honestly if I need more then 1.37v for vcore to run a simple 4.2ghz oc im bout to just go with a w3520 chip.
Anyhow gonna play around see if I can find out if I really do have a bum chip or something is off. This is all on the G32 bios which I like actually. I never had an issue with ram timings on the other bioses.
Secondary processor bsod means you need to play with vtt in my experience dude. Either that or vcore:vtt ratio is out.
EDIT: Cas 6 in previous bioses gave 7 in windows for me and many other users. Is this possible in your case? Memory timing fix is a major fix in this beta.
BSOD which says - secondary core didnīt respon in time? (or something like that)
Yea that's what I have read @ jack up volts. Been doing that but seriously i went up to 1.4v vcore and +120mv vtt @ 4.2ghz with HTT off and I still couldnt pass Prime. I also have been getting Machine Check Exception BSOD's as well. Is that related to volts too?
My whole thing is I shouldn't need that much volts for a D0 chip just to get to 4.2ghz w/ HTT off. That doesn't make any sense, especially with the oc's I have seen with D0 chips at like 4.4ghz and higher. Every chip is different, but there is usually an average of OC capability in chips of the same make and my chip is looking more and more below average.
Ran prime on stock and she passed so its not a hardware defect. I probably just got a chip that cant oc too well without a serious boost in volts. Eh. It happens. Ran memtest just to see maybe its ram related..shot in the dark..ram passed. Re-sat chip...same results. Again maybe I got a volt whore chip. I'll keep trouble shooting. Not like I'm in a rush or anything. Although some games are coming I wanna play. If I can't figure out the issue I'll I settle for a low OC like 3.8ghz while I play those games and in the meantime get me a Xeon. But again that's after i'm like 99% sure my chip is a bad oc'er. Also looks like my wall is 205 bclck.
Then you are right, its non-OCable CPU as mine. They can OC really high, but not for 24/7. That 3.8 is limit for me aswell. Iīm waiting for i7 980 XE. :D
Not convinced....
Try cpu multi 19x and clocking with ram @ 6x multi and uncore at 12x. That will let you clock purely bclk and cpu core. When you find your max stable bclk you can try raising cpu multi and lowering bclk to go for more. These bloodrage boards like the 18 and 19 multi though.
Remember you can run 18x or 19x multi with cpu turbo on to get 21x under load and still retain the additional stability of using the lower multiplier (no idea why that works). Some cpus prefer 18, some prefer 19.
Be prepared to add vtt as you increase cpu core clock/volts, even if lowering bclk or memory speed.
Does BR not have voltages like QPI PLL and IOH vCore? Just looking at the screenies posted above, and I don't see them.
They often need boosting on other boards to go above 4.0.
Also your RAM might be limiting you, try playing with timings and RAM multis.
How do u think I found out my wall is 205? lol @ try diff cpu multi's.
I hear u @ not convinced cause i'm finding it hard to believe this chip is this demanding. Then again it could happen. Eh, I'll keep experimenting. Gives me something to do until the games I wanna play drop. Plus more experience with this board and Bios never hurts.
BTW I can pass vantage all day with my oc, but Prime is like no soup for u, buddy. I theorized ram maybe holding me back but so far my tests haven't proven it to be the case. Running Gskill tridents..stock rated at 2000mhz. Again i'll keep at it. Nothing ventured nothing gain.
Um yes they have QPI PLL and such..
But as he said, some CPUs simply are not good enough. It actually is same as my previous X2 AMD. Yes, I could OC soul out of it, but for 24/7, just pretty average..
Theres possibility of switching off cores, you can very simply try if one core is "bad". I was able to achieve very nice clocks on one core (and stable).
I mentioned those specific multi's as they are prooven to increase bclk limit on the blood rage. As I said you can turn on turbo to bring your true multi back to 21x, but if you try 18x or 19x as the set cpu multi you should gain a few bclk.
What temps are you at btw? If they're below 85 under prime95 just keep adding voltage. Some chips dont heat up as much as others at the same voltage. My 950 @ 4.675 / 1.48v runs cooler than my 920 @ 4.4ghz 1.45v.
Also some cpus just dont like a high uncore combined with high cpu core, hence my suggestion to go to 6x mem /12x uncore.
Just work out which particular part of the chip is failing and then youll know what to adjust.
You should be fine up to +350mv / 340mv on water or +250mv / +300mv on air. Above that temps will probably get lairy.
