yeah i re-seated the heatsink, and i think its asfitted as it can get
i just think those phenoms suck man..coretemp is reporting 50C now.. so its 10C less than it was originally before i:
1.) Vacuumed the inside
2.) Reapplied thermal compound and reseated the heatsink
3.) reversed the side fan to suck out air, rather than blow in.
i think the only other thing i can do is buy another heatsink??

build in sensor isn't 100% accurate
maybe you could use a non-contact thermometer(IR/Laser pointer thermometer) to measure the surface temperature
I just realized that it's M3A board.I've got one actually.
The BIOS reading is inaccurate - it's at least 15c higher then
normal/real.
The north bridge on that board however is a much bigger problem - you can put a coffee mug on it and it will keep it hot.
The idle temperature is 85c+. I am not kidding.Measured with
thermometer.
I had to strap a little fan on top of it to keep it civil.
You can touch it (do it fast) with you finger and it will burn like
a stove.I tried putting an after market heat sink but could not find the one that fits.You can try a different BIOS - maybe Asus has fixed the temperatures,but that north bridge should be a priority (put a fan on it).
One thing I found that keeps it (North bridge) a little cooler
(60c+ :eek: instead of 80c+) is a lower dram voltage.
Asus btw did not put a sensor for the north bridge,so unless
you touch it you wouldn't know.Sneaky bastards.
We also had a big thread for M3a (1st HT3 board :rolleyes:),but I can't find it :confused:

Also note the 12v reading in the BIOS - seems a little low.
It's not a bad mount as they affect temps but not by 30+ degree's
I think it's a borked sensor, you got another PC you can try it in?
Your right, i read abit on this mobo AFTER i bought it last year, and people with that mobo were using the N/B as a 2nd heater in the room... lol no serious its bad. i have updated the BIOS to the latest...but i think its just the mobo thats dodgy then...would decreasing the vCore have any affect?Quote:
