That's a loaded question. If you want absolute safety, I'd suggest running at stock settings.

Intel does provide a recommended and absolute max voltage settings they spell out in their data sheets. The absolute max voltages they supply with a disclaimer that states it might harm your processor to run at those settings. So, it's up to each person to determine how much risk they are comfortable with.:)

i know the data sheet mate :) but i saw that there is 1.21 for the vTT but in the net many clockers said that we can give 1.50 safely ...

Yes, OFC it works, but Intel dont take any responsb for it if it breaks, MANY HAVE to use upto 1.60 sometimes, often round 1.40-1.50 to keep mem on or over DDR2000...

Still think its kinda wrong? if XMP settings will put 1.55, and Intel not supporting it.... then will we all be theoretical put to ddr1600 for the most? why put a limit, that very much has to be broken most of the time?

i get better temps with coolmaster 212 @ same speed n voltage

Hmm interesting. So far I'm very happy with temps. On normal use never go over 70. During stress test those were the highest temps.

On idle 24/7 they hover upper 20's to middle 30's.

I'm interested to see your results :D Every CPU is a different animal :shrug:

Agree.. I think 3.8 is average high for everybody. Right after that, things get hot without extreme cooling IMO. :D

The Mega Shadow is doing OK with the temps so far.

2x2GB Crucial Ballistix NOT best-suited to low-voltage use- im using an older kit
watercooling- XSPC delta block, 120.2 rad with Xigmtatek fans at 10v

Turbo disabled.

At 4GHz, im losing a full 0.1v under load. Given how cool... COLD the PWM heatsinks are, I dnt feel theres any need for such high droop.

Updated my BIOS to 158, which fixed vDroop :D

I now idle at 1.30v and load at 1.33v :D:D:D:D:D Im sure I can tweak that down to 1.30v load. Temps are also a touch lower

Your temps would be even lower if you used an updated version of Core Temp 0.99.5 that is able to read TJMax from the CPU.

IMHO that just shows that the temps reported by all these programs is too open to mis-interpretation at hardware interrogation-> software level.

Just because the software tells me the temps are lower... doesnt mean they *are*. Maybe the latest version will be more accurate... maybe it wont be, but relative to itself, any version used will show a change based on vCore improvements, higher MHz etc.

That was a big problem in the early days which is why Intel started writing TJMax directly into all of their Core i7 / i5 CPUs which any software can read and use. Old versions of Core Temp and RealTemp had to guess at TJMax but Intel finally did us a favor and now both programs are able to read this information from each core of your CPU. When a line of processors is updated, software needs to be updated too.

I like my temp gun but at full load running Prime or LinX, it's useless for reporting peak core temperatures. I think what Core Temp or RealTemp reports for Core 0 at full load on these new CPUs is very accurate and directly comparable to other Core i7 / i5 users.

4.1GHz @ 1.35v idle, 1.39v load
