Yeah it would be nice and yeah they would sell less probably but in the end I think they would retain their consumer base for being honest as well. I cannot see the legal route going through that is for sure. Heck we don't even have laws for bottled water..
Yep, and they can argue it is because of other things and not directly their coolant and blah .. blah ..
I do agree, I thought it was best to run that stuff too and started out with it. Luckily I was reading here and found out what could happen and changed out before I could become another statistic.
Distilled water > everything else.
I have some more info for you guys :)

Thermochill EC6 UV Blue - UK RRP £8.99 Inc VAT
Thermochill EC6 UV Neon Green - UK RRP £8.99 Inc VAT
Thermochill EC6 Clear - UK RRP £7.99 Inc VAT
To follow in the next few weeks...
Thermochill EC6 UV Clear/Blue - UK RRP £8.99 Inc VAT
Thermochill EC6 UV Red - UK RRP £8.99 Inc VAT
At least they added this statement:
Quote:
We recommend frequent coolant changes to maintain your system loop correctly, and to reduce the conductive potential within the loop as much as possible. EC6 can become electrically conductive in normal use over time or if contaminated just like any other coolant on the market.
^^^^ +1
That would be perfect if all pre-mix manufacture's did that.
the blue looks stunning, but im not even tempted :) .
Distilled water+ silver .
How did you get the silver into the distilled water or did you meant Tygon Silver tubings? :)
Silver = something like this, or some other piece of 99.9+% silver. The kill coils are placed in the tubing or the reservoir (as long as they don't block any flow).
What about regular old ethylene glycol? I just built my first wc rig and didn't think twice about coolant and now you guys have me worried. I think it's 50/50 mix though it's pretty green.. is it going to gum up my stuff?
A mix with ethylene glycol and distilled will have a lower specific heat capacity than straight distilled, giving you less efficient heat transfer from the radiator. I'd guess maybe 20% or so with a 50/50 solution.
Some acrylic reservoirs don't stand up well to glycol solutions.
If you are happy with your coolant - e.g. decent temps and you like the color, then just keep an eye on it.
Its also not safe for kids and animals. If you have pets or kids that have access to the machine when you are not around, a leak may allow them access to the coolant.
You are also not suppose to dump it down the drain, but take it to the autoparts store to properly dispose of it.
Regular distilled with peice of silver can be poured down the drain and is perfectly save for pets and kids if you have a leak or spill. (not certain about PT Nuke)
There have been issues with PT Nuke clogging people's blocks up if you add too much. That is the benefit of silver, you can't overdue it.
With the superfine blocks (Apogee XT for example) today I don't understand why anyone would run anything but distilled water...
DYE..
Clear UV and go BLing on UV cathodes instead.
Then you get your color + no gunk.
I honestly think its the the glycol or some form of antifreeze which is gunking in blocks.
Maybe also as the glycol gunks it picks up more dye and thats what leads to the very nasty and messy staining?
Im just shooting ideas and theories, so dont shoot me on it.
could jsut use food colouring
Somebody needs to make some UV reactive tubing that looks like the blue in post 33, and maybe if possible color some reservoirs to match tubing.
Some of the dyes just have more variety and make nicer looking builds to me anyways. Other option is if someone would sell a concentrated dye that can be put in DW, like 10mls per liter, and does not clump or separate over time, though i wont be first to try it:p:. Staining tubing I can live with as will toss, but gunking up rad, blocks, etc im not willing to deal with.
IMHO still there isn't a UV dye worth looking for...
Buy some UV tubing and be done with it...
Pure distilled is the way to go.
Hmnnnn... I guess I hate UV cathodes worse than gunk in my blocks :p: I think I'm going to have to go distilled, plain ol' silly water.
