WTF is AMD doing:confused:
this is more interesting than Athlon 7750+ unlocking to quad core:ROTF:
try to overclock it,maybe it will go far

something's up, it's like AMD is throwing chips out there they WANT to be unlocked by the enthusiast community. a name as nice as FX-5000 showing up out of the blue implies intent to me.
Yes, thats also what I suspect, but we don't know what percentage of these will unlock (chances), and if some are chips are different die's.
If I knew I had a 100% chance of it unlocking in my purchase I'd be buying one of these (and a new mobo) in a heartbeat. Thing is, will it overclock?
Notice how it clocks like total crap even though he is holding it at 19*C? That would be my guess as to why. They probably require a certain amount of overhead to prove a chip will be 110% stable in high heat 100% load conditions and this chip just couldn't cut it.
Good deal for people willing to give the chip good cooling and not demand high clocks of it though!
I recon that its because of the DDR2 Only that these CPUs exist. Somewhere along the line they must have had some old DDR2 memory controllers and created these CPUs at the low end to use them up?
What I find interesting is the 65w Thermal claim if these are a deneb based CPU, I guess that's why they set the clock speed so low?
Anyway I've just ordered one from UK Supplier Scan, but it will not be here until Monday :( So will let you know how I get on!
Knowing my luck it will most likly be a single batch of CPUs which are deneb based... or I will end up with an unstable CPU / one which will not unlock at all! But we will see! :)
Anyone else going to give these a go?
Ordered one last night from the egg.
We'll see what it does.
I ordered one to, for $58 its worth a try.
Sure thing

Here it is :D
wtf?...for busineess partners?
Am I right in assuming the stock cooler for this chip is the smaller one? Cooling on these is probably even more crucial in getting a good clock than it is on the higher binned chips.
The challenge in clocking these will be the low multi, you'd need to get the ref clock running at 310 to get these running at a stock 965 clock speed. I was able to clock a 9550 agena to 3.0 using that multi, so these chips will probably go higher, but it's a lot more difficult to get a stable system by jacking up the ref clock as opposed to the core multi like on the unlockable 550's.
I may buy a few of these to screw around with, IMO it's fun clocking these K10's using the ref clock, but the results just aren't there when compared to black edition chips.
Received my CPU today :)
Got exactly the same stepping as the OP!
CACVC AC 0935FPMW
Its unlocked fine and showing as a Phenom FX5000 Quad Core just the same as OPs and the other thread on here :D
Currently testing it on prime and then will give overclocking a go :)
I'm using a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P with F8 Bios :)
buff - How did you get on with yours?
I got mine today but my bios doesn't support it yet.:( But I am glad to hear that they are unlocking though.:)
Also my stepping is
CACVC AC 0935CPMW
Mine is stable at 263x11 at 1.5Vcore :(
Does not clock well at all.
OCZ Dominator I think......bought it a long time ago.
I have some more extensive testing to do, but it is just depressing right now :(
There is no way you need that many volts at those clocks, its got to be something else holding you back and please lower the volts!
What issues do you get when trying to go higher? have you lowered memory divider?
I presume you have all 4 cores unlocked and its totally stable at stock speed on all 4, no duff cores?
Anyway... I've been playing with my CPU and its still very much a working process... Its been a long time since I've not had a multi to play with :( and I'm try to remember how to clock properly!
I've currently in windows at 291x11 (3.2GHz) but its not stable on prime blend (3 Cores failed after 4mins), seems much better on small FFTs (see below, was a quick test, will try longer) so I think I've got some issues with NB / HT / Memory etc which I'm trying to work out, any ideas welcome!
I'm only using 1.4v at 3.2GHz and I might even try 1.35v again as I don't think I even need that much. I've tried more volts is not whats holding me back at the moment from going further. Memory is on a very low divider now (see below).

Just to confirm what I'm working with:
Air cooled with Tuniq 120 Tower
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P with F8 Bios
Running in an Antec 1200
