It's prob. more the BIOS quality, seems only a few got theirs working right viz. GA, Biostar and one model of MSI.
Hmm, I had actually ordered the mATX DDR2 version, the Asus M4A785D-M Pro, should I forego it?

Just my opinion... But if it's not too late, and your looking for the best OC board,... Cancel the Asus 785 and get the GBT 790X-UD4P (for DDR2) or the 790XT-UD4P for DDR3...
They both seem to be the boards of choice for Unlocked OC's right now!
I had the MSI 770-C45 and compare to this mobo,Asus is excellent.(Lower voltages, great oc.Better temps. My ram went too high(1600 from 1333) with good timings.)All these compare to MSI's mobo.)
It needs more oc options on bios, but im pretty sure that soon this will be fixed.
Daveburt is right about gigabyte's mobo,it is one of the top 5 mobos with great overclockability.
@Daveburt,Cpu/NB freq option changes the HT link multiplier.LOL
You sure man? Because HTLink can't be higher than NB/IMC, it's a golden rule of Phenoms.... ;)
You may be able to lower HTLink but if your raising it with that Multi you must be raising the IMC too....
Are you running 0219? Your making me want to test after I finally got my system stable.... :p:
It's not all that uncommon for CPU-z/AOD to report things wrong on new boards...
For those of you who are using this board, I just wanted to let you know that I installed ATI's new 9.8 drivers on it tonight (the IGP/4200 version).
I was a little worried, but everything seemed to go OK... It still plays my Tunes, AVI's and DVD's stored on the HD (haven't tried Blu-Ray yet though)...
I made a "Restore Point" before the install, and thats probably a good idea! But if you want to try them out, I don't think they'll trash your Win7 install.
I still need more RAM though, 2Gb just isn't enough for this board and a 64bit OS... Next payday I think I'm gonna order a 2x2Gb OCZ/AMD kit for the main rig and go with 4x1Gb on this board....
Daveburt, are you by chance running Raid on your Win7 64 Bit RC? If so, which drivers did you use?
Just a little update for folks who may be using this board. There are NEW bios available, Version 0405 and 0407:

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...4A785TD-V_EVO/
They fixed the NB/IMC multi, it works now. ;)
Still no save spots for CMOS profiles though...
My IGP Video problems are gone (but I'm also upgrqaded to 4x1Gb mem).
I also found another little problem when testing bois 0407 conserning CnQ.
I get the feeling this may have been there all along and I just never noticed it.
Cool and Quiet is VERY slow to respond to state changes. I noticed it when I was running some benchmarks/stability tests. If you notice the same problems turn CnQ off in bios and install PhenomMSR Tweaker.

It solved the problem for me..
EDIT: Aquineas, sorry I missed your question... But no, I'm not running a raid array.
Looks like you decided to buy something :p:, I purchased the M4A78T-E (I think it is) not to long ago for the MCE box. It is a nice board, I do like that board you got, I can't get myself to by one tho...yet;). Thanks for sharing, how's that heatsink doing?
I'm really happy with the HSF, there are better performing ones for OC'ers, but for an HTPC it works out really well. Super quiet, and the fan blows down onto the board to help cool the NB and VRM's.. It was really easy to attatch too, it has locking clips on both sides so you don't have to fumble with keeping one side on while you lock the other.
I'm running an Unlocked 720 @3.1Ghz, 2400/NB with 1.3125v on the core and everything else on "auto"... In a small closed case the max temp I've seen it hit is 50c under Prime95.
Not too shabby... :)
Has anyone had the opportunity to test this bios released 9-17-09 as follows:
M4A785TD-V EVO BIOS 0410
Improve the system performance when over clocking.
I would appreciate any feedback on your results.......
is possible asign irq 12 to any pci port??
I haven't tried it yet, but for those who have this board a New BIOS is available, 0501...
Heres a link:
ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...4A785TD-V_EVO/
Is there, in BIOS, any option to change NB Multiplier or NB Frekvency???
Yes, theres both nb mutli/frequency options in bios 0410. dunno about previous updates
Got this board because I didn't want to spend too much money on my new setup (my days of wasting money on hardware are over :P)
But on thing got me pissed :P
First the memory timmings settings. You have to set both of sticks... instead of just setting the timmings and then it should be applied to both sticks.
The the vCore swings, I set it to 1.36v in bios, and the bastard swings from 1.34v up to 1.41v :| WTF?
Another stupid thing is the range of value you can set, why bother to put the clock adjustable between 200 and 550 if you can't even reach 300 properly...
Well I shouldn't expect much, after all this is a budget board, but there are things that piss me of :|
EDIT: The problem continues, tried to change the Load Line Calibration option, but no go... jesus christ... the board sucks for OC.
New 0602 bios here

running 0505 bios, experiencing same thing with vdroop, LLC at 19% and voltage still goes from 1.31-1.41 as u can see in the hwmonitor
but im still happy with this OC
ran OCCT for 2 hrs no errors
what r u guys setting LLC at?
Mine is going to RMA, couldn't put it at dual-channel mode. But it seems that the normal is around 9%
if you disable those Q-Fan functions, you can adjust it using SpeedFan later on windows environment
anybody test thuban X6 on this mobo yet?
