the HK CU looks huge! whats the thickness of it?
The fins are so deep on the 350, no wonder it has so much higher restriction and good heat transfer!!
Nice pics...thanks!
What about the base of the HK3,
Someone was saying the finish is only machined finished (IE...no lapping). Is that right? What about bowing, any bow to that one?
Thanks!
Martin
I have ti H/K v3 LT and the base isnt bowed on mine
Machined finish, it is not mirror smooth on the one I received, ie did not appear lapped. And like the above poster, no bowing to the blocks base.
i dunno..sorry
the fins are taller...more area in contact with water:yepp: look at the poor gtz...and they say that koolance copied the gtz..:shakes:
good to hear from you, its not lapped, bestest surface finish is the koolance350 followed by the ek's
and yeah its not bowed...
i'm finishing the flowrates...and i have to say..the hk is like the fuzionv2
hmmmm base pics..thats gonna be challenging with my point and shoot.. they're all shiny:D
yep thats how i see it too..
I would really like to see test with the HK 3.0 up against the GTZ on socket 775
hk v3 base pics added
i dunno..i just wish it were polished...thanks for appreciating the lumix's output:ROTF: ...i'm soo tempted to buy a dslr..but i don't really take pictures that much.
yeah...thats a whole different hobby...heck pixcetera.com :up:already shows how infinite the possibilities are in photography, thats not me:D
sorry to burst your bubble...but the koolance is very different, center inlet, circular, high restriction
anyways...gtz vs koolance350

version3 is still incomplete, but i'm working on it...
Not to waist time - HESmelaugh already did some testing with i7 (the graphs are international, I guess :p:):

Because I (as a layman) already tested the Koolance against the Heatkiller on my 775 (and found the Heatkiller being much better than the Koolance) I am really anxious to see your results
I'm lagging behind on the conversation here a little...
About the non-lapped HK base: Do you think it would improve performance if the base were lapped and polished? What if it were done by hand?
I'm thinking I could lap the base of my HK and test before and after.
I checked my HK 3.0 CU as well and the base is very flat, it's "better" than my EK Supreme LT and no comparison to a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. My "old" EK Supreme also has a slight bow (less than the TRUE but a little more than the LT), so it is "worse" than the HK if you consider bowed to be a bad thing. The HK is also better than my Fuzion V1, which has a slight bow similar to the EK Supreme.
I used a proper straight edge to check this btw.
Whatever process they use to finish the base seems to be good, at least it's better than my other blocks. It's not a mirror finish, but it's definitely flatter than the other blocks that I have.
Edit:
I compared it to my old lapped E6300 and I don't think you can do a better job than what the HK 3.0 already has. You can give it a mirror finish, but flatness (or the geometry of a bow) is much more important than that I think, so the difference should be marginal.
Edit2: I'll reply to your PM at the LUXX later Shane, I was thinking about it yesterday but then I got distracted and forgot about it...
*push* Results? :D
Ordered me a HK V3 LT... my phasechanger sucks w/i7 at the moment. Needs some modding goodness or such...
I've already started with the hk3, and first mount was a dud, the base being so big sat on the capacitors of my multiphase vrms. So its working in one direction.

GB x58 extreme users be warned. Well the thermal performance was something i was expecting. but stay tuned i got 25 mounts to do:up:
**pump setup on post#1
why 25?
and waht thermopaste do u use, mx-2?
Five mounts/block, I'm guessing... very nice. Looking forwards to seeing the results!
but there are 6 blocks
well maybe 6x5=30 mounts but 5 mounts already done :)
