This just seems like a step backwards to me...
Where do you get em? Who makes them?
I'll be happy to test them.
:bananal:
Geno, Ill take a bunch ill be a test bunny poly carbonate is so strong, the melting factor alone is crazy (disabled firefighter) Ill use it in my next mod DB is working on getting some other things for me aswell....
@BoxGods...glad to see you're still around. You went off-radar for quite a while.
The polycarb fittings look interesting, you make some other fittings out of polycarb right? Ghost fittings IIRC.
I've never been able to justify the cost of compression fittings over normal barbs+zipties/wormdrives, if these really are significantly cheaper than the likes of TFC and Bitspower i'd definately be interested.
I would be afraid of over tightening and causing a crack. Still I wouldn’t completely dismiss the idea of polycarbonate fittings if they were thoroughly tested. As far as chemical reaction, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycar...ther_chemicals has a rough list. I can’t figure out where PT Nuke (benzalkonium chloride) and anti-freeze (ethylene glycol) fits in though.
maybe half the cost? as Geno said not a total replacement for metal compression fittings but an option if those are not possible or if you have a setup where they would work well. as I said before, we need TESTS to see how they work and perform (as we should for any fittings on teh market, would be nice to have reliability measures and have a massive barb/fitting shootout).
I do not factor price into my selection of components for the most part. Everyone has different budgets and project parameters.
I have enough gear to set up an outside loop and run them through some heavy duty testing if someone can point me to an area to purchase them, or someone that can send some for testing, give them a hardcore testing with some dual iwakis.
I dunno about these - I just think they look a bit ugly really...
lol how would those cut the tubing.... your being ridiculous trying to find fault in these, they look fine to me all around.
They might nick the tubing a little but they aren't deep enough to come close to actually cutting through the tubing. At worst just make a mark on the inside wall.
How is it going to cut through? I can see making a mark but the wall thickness is much thicker than that little line
Intriguing . I would like to hear how durable they are b4 i try some. But i think its a good idea.
those are gold sample not actual production run.
Disclaimer: I am friends with Geno who designed these and other products you have seen here. I am not connected to nor do I have relations with the company who will distribute them so any questions really should be directed to Geno including logistical questions.
The parting line is like everything else with photographs in that they are 20 times more obvious in a picture then in real life. Like when there are micro scopic hair line scratches in your paint that you cant see with your eyes but look like the grand canyon in pictures.
All but the most cynical person will actually be pleasantly surprised by how strong these are. No they are not as strong as steel would be but do they REALLY need to be? If you thread a metal fitting into a plastic reservoir do the steel threads somehow make the plastic threads stronger? The force required to reach in and grab a tube and yank it hard enough to break one of these poly carbonate fittings is enough that your video card or other PC components are going to break or come loose first.
Again, this is just an alternative for guys who want the ease of use that comes with compression fittings but don't want to break the bank.
And Yes metal fittings DO transmit heat into your case. Is it a lot? On a single fitting of course not, and even 12 or so in your case won't be a HUGE amount of heat being dumped, but it WILL be more then a plastic fitting. In a forum where guys go to xtreme measures to drop even 1 or 2 degrees it is not totally absurd to mention it...just mostly lol.
I like the SFF machines and there is so little case volume that I like to do everything I can to transmit heat out. To me that is one of the TRUE advantages to water cooling.
I been here playing with two new lasers lol.
Work Work Work is my motto. Also trying to squeeze in some modding time. I have been told the full production run on T3 is this coming Monday, and fittings shortly there after, so look for your review samples about the 3rd or 4th week of February.
I didn't forget lol.
