I just bought the card in the OP today, should be here in a few days and I can't wait. Will be much better than my 7900GS. Now I need to choose a WB to cool this card. I'm using a MCW60 on the 7900GS but I think I may go full cover block so I dont have to worry about the RAM and voltage regs and all that. Jab-tech has a good price on an XSPC Razor which I might spring for, unless I find something else I like instead.
I am not a fan of XSPC razor blocks, from what I have seen some people get pretty be temps with them (for water).
the dangerden blocks are the best really, they have standoffs and they are milled from a solid copper block :up:

I have done EXTENSIVE research into the subject. Many, many hours. Unfortunately, I purchased it on 1/28, due to impatience (a new Dell 2408 sitting next to you un-used for over a month, waiting for the stock XFX to not show up can do that. :shakes: )
I've come to the conclusion that at the very least, it WILL be a blue PCB. Unfortunately, that will not tell us anything really about the PWM.

Half the pics are with a blue PCB, the other half reference red PCB.

Pros: I had bought a Sapphire 4870 1Gb back in September and it served me great. I finally decided to get a second one for Christmas and they changed the Saphhire design from stock to their own cooler. I had Voltmodded my Sapphire and after about a week of having the card, I Vmodded it as well. Both cards are clocked at 820/950 running at 40c-45c idle. I was able to push these cards to 860MHz, but it wasn't that stable.
Cons: The main reason why I had bought an HIS was because my Sapphire had the original cooler. Looking at the picture, it was the same. On arrival, the PCB was a light blue and the stock cooler was HIS logo covering the entire top, unlike the sticker on the Sapphire that I pealed off. I didn't think that deserved 1 less egg though.
Other Thoughts: CrossFire with a Sapphire and HIS worked perfectly fine. Using 2 bridges didn't make much of a difference, but it didn't hurt it. The only bad thing with my system is that with the addition of a second card, my CPU, AMD Phenom 9500, bottlenecked it so it did not add any performance at all. I just sold both cards as a set for $xxx to someone so I can grab the Sapphire 4870X2 for $xxx and get that $xx MIR. I would recommend this card to anyone looking for the best performance for your buck.
@Brinox - Did you take the stock cooler off of that HIS card? Can you confirm whether it is the reference Digital PWM, or analogue?
For anyone that is waiting on whether this card is reference or a revision, I should be recieving the card VERY soon. Tracking on Newegg says that it will be here tomorrow. Tracking on UPS says that it was rescheduled for tuesday, though both show them in the warehouse near me.
If anyone is interested, I can post back here when I do recieve it what PWM it has. I don't know if I can take it apart, unfortunatly, since I have very little thermal paste left. :(
Would have first bought the card from Newegg, then immediatly purchased Iandh's custom ram HS and some paste from petras, but due to the concern of recieving a non-reference card, was forced to hold off until this is confirmed.

if the cooler is reference then its a reference card, the thing is TSMC made red PCBs for the first batch of 4870s, but then they made orders of BLUE for HIS for the ICEQ cards and HIS didnt want to make 2 orders so the non IceQ cards got the blue PCB as well, but its still reference: here is a pic of the IceQ blue PCB http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...d%20-%20Retail

I bought this card over the weekend when it was on sale and it will arrive in a day or two. I am glad to hear it is still reference as I have also bought a reference full cover block. I bought the Koolance full cover block, seemed to fit my needs the best. As far as PCB color, I would have rather had red, but blue will be just fine as well as it will match my mobo. I'll post a pic when I have them in my grubby hands this weekend. :)
