Of course they are, they have to. They can't compete with the Phenom II with the way their prices are right now. People will buy the cheaper AMD because it runs competes very well with all Intel processors except for the i7. They're losing money because they're being greedy and they know it.

yes, pretty much every chip can do nearly 500 FSB at 9x multi on the right motherboard

I love how first company X says "We are going to release multicore optimized drivers in H1 2009". Then some random guy at the same time says "Yes, I think that indeed they'll release multicore optimized drivers in H1 2009". When H1 2009 comes and the drivers are out the same guy says: "I TOLD YOU SO!!!1!!".

The same applies here.

Finally the Q9650 will come down in price enough that I can replace the trusty Q6600 in my 780i. Christmas is here again.

Wasn't Q9650 end of the line ? Well.. now I won't be afraid to waste this one if there will be more coming :)

But still at that price think a i7 920 is more bang for the buck than the Q9650.

Hornet331 - I believe you, I am one of those S775 people, I was referring to Loque's post. He said that i7 is more bang for the buck than a Q9650, and he is probably right. But then the S775 owner would have to change motherboards and RAM too, and suddenly its not so cheap.

The Deneb rig stays (I want to play with L3 clocks) but instead of an i7 system I'll get a Q9650. FTW.

Will wait until i5 to get my rendersystems.

Thx man for the input, appreciated. :)

I know the 45 nm quad can have its FSB clocked nicely with good P45 boards, but my X38 is very stable and feature rich, the RAID 0 has been solid for about a year now, i would really hate if i have to switch MoBo for a quad CPU build. :shrug:
