nice, have you found you get lower max bclk with 22x than with 21x ?

920 @ 22x ?
nice one guys :)
but with that multiplier you can not reach the same clock as 21x ?
:(
yeah lower max bclk on 22x, but might be onto something
- Seems as I disable the number of cpu cores from bios, in memtest86+ v2.11 clock for clock memory frequency bandwidth increases with the highest bandwidth with 1 single core enabled and 4 cores enabled having the lesser bandwidth numbers.
- If this is true, then it could explain why I get a lower max bclk on 22x multiplier than with 21x as 22x uses a single core and thus higher bandwidth numbers may mean tighter internal memory latencies ? Tighter internal latencies for memory may mean same vdimm memory voltage used for memory clocks with 20-21x and lower multipliers with 4 cores enabled to get stable, might not be enough vdimm memory volts to handle the tighter latencies for single core at 22x multiplier ? I'll have to do more tests to confirm this.
To confirm here with x 22 multiplier give no gain more higher bclk and system will be pretty unstable to when run 22X multiplier, ive run more stable with X21 and no gain with more Vcore either
Yeah 21x more stable for me than 22x or 20x
I tried running 3dmark06 with single HD4870x2 @750/900 stock speeds with i7 920 above on TRUE120 air @21x216blck = 4536Mhz HT enabled at 1.6v cpuz idle and I could run 3dmark06 up to CPU test 1, but CPU test 2 rebooted the system. Wprime v1.55 load temps were around 86-88C.
Maybe I'm expecting too much for air cooled i7 920 ? :)
George no , you arent expecting to much...
its called @ keep pushing it
and when you are into that statement, you cant get it to fast
keep pushing it
i think i'm at the limit of my cooling, so next i'll test 3dmark benchable max on air, then swap to my 2nd i7 920 3836A756 twin cpu and see if it does the same as this first one on air. Then next up H20 :D
Take comfort in knowning later 965 retail batches are doing much better than some ES and early retail batches :)
I would love to know what batch mine is ... I got mine a few weeks ago ... it's still in the box ... I haven't even broken the seal :D I've been so stoked on getting this DFI board ... and I thought it would have come out a little earlier than it did, but hey, it's still early by DFI standards
batch info is on box label too ;)
Ahhh ... I see it ... My batch number is #3837A820 ... packaged on 11/14/2008!
Even made in Costa Rica! :D
Good luck and hope your's a gem cpu too :)
Some 3Dmark/PCmark Benchmarks still on air cooling :)

eva2000 Good work there mate
:D:up:
wow man what a crazy CPU
i cannot believe you got it 3dmark06 stable just under 4.5GHz on freakin' air cooling
very nice cpu :)
The fsb vtt voltage on dfi is qpi voltage in asus mainboards?
Yeah.. Asus got it wrong as always (reminds me of "FSB termination" back in the P965 day)
George that i7 920 its a freak of nature  , i canot wait untill you put it on H2O or SS , ill await a few more WRs from that cpu :yepp:
keep pushing it my friend.
Angelo.
thanks :D
Yup indeed - i had a feeling it was nice due to being similar batch as Team Japan's 965s but didn't realise it was this good - would of loved 4.5+ ghz 3d benchable on air but oh well heh
thanks
DFI CPU VTT = Asus QPI/PLL AFAIK
thanks mate, certainly is a nice cpu, I hope my other i7 920 of same batch performs better or the same :D
I just bit the bullet and ordered:
Intel Core i7 920 Batch# 3839A577 (already in my possession)
DFI UT X58-T3EH8 (Waiting anxiously)
CORSAIR TR3X6G1866C9DF 6GB PC3-15000 DDR3-1866 (also waiting on this)
Going to pick this up in the morning locally: Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme 1366 RT
I was wondering if the Dominator fan will interfere with the heatsink if I mounted 2 fans on the heatsink?
Commercial chips are getting back on my super hand picked, It is expected and natural!
Congrats!
Francois
congrats on the build... you won't have a problem if you use dimm 2+4+6 slots, with 120x38mm thick fan on dimm side it will interfere with dimm slot 1. 120x25mm fans should be fine.
All the best :)
which the vcore or CPU VTT needed ? :)
thanks Francois, if only I had one of those 4.8ghz air cpus for memory testing i do :D
That's it, ordered a 920 as well.. after seeing this I don't feel like waiting on my 965 any more.
Here's to hoping I can get one that's even remotely in the same league as yours eva :D
And I do hope those chips like the cold better than my Q6600, which would do EXACTLY the same clocks at EXACTLY the same Vcore regardless of the coretemps being -20 or +60
